snow. and snow. and more snow. and did I mention the snow?

Ithaca got over a foot of snow (unofficial National Weather Service estimates are approximately 19 inches) from Tuesday night continuing all through Wednesday (which was, of course, Valentine's Day). We opened the store as usual, but closed at 4pm. I had to shovel a foot of snow out of my sidewalk Wednesday morning, in order to reach the street, and then had to walk in the streets half of the way to work since many sidewalks had not yet been shoveled.

Then, when I got home -- after walking through snow and driving winds that created near white-out conditions at several points -- I had to shovel off the porch in order to open my front door, since the wind had blown an 8-inch drift up against it. Also, my mailbox was full of snow. Bah.

The storm stopped by 11pm, but this morning I had to shovel another 2-3 inches, and getting to work was again an adventure, this time because the streets had been thoroughly plowed, leaving mountains of dirty snow blocking off the ends of the sidewalks. Also, it was only 8 degrees Fahrenheit, and still quite windy.

I am stiff and sore and very, very tired. And I have to get up by 6am tomorrow morning, to open the store. *Liz wilts over the keyboard*

---------------

This weekend my parents will visit to celebrate (belatedly) my birthday, so I probably won't be writing much for a few days. That's okay. Company and sleep are wonderful things too!
