work, carpal tunnel, more work

We have acquired a new employee at the Collegetown rental office. I am currently unsure whether they will replace Miss California; whether they will take on 3 days a week with Miss California going back to 3 days a week; whether Miss California will switch permanently to 4 days a week, New Hire will be 3 days a week, and I will move entirely downtown; or some other option. I was too busy to ask today. (And honestly, I am okay with any of those possibilities.)

So I showed New Hire how to do some standard Collegetown office tasks, answered a lot of emails (for both offices!), wrote a lease for a downtown apartment (because Mr. Geniality was also very busy), answered a bunch of phone calls, and processed some leases and sublets -- in summary, I was trying to do some of my usual Collegetown job (but no packages! thank you, New Hire, for handling that part), some of my downtown job, and some of Mom Boss's job because she's out on vacation/staycation this week.

In other news, I got my stitches out this morning! \o/

I think the right wrist surgery has been a little less dramatically successful than the left wrist. What I mean by that is that after the surgery, I have had NO recurrence of carpal tunnel symptoms in my left hand, aside from the one night I apparently slept on it funny and woke up with bad pins-and-needles. In contrast, I have continued to experience some carpal tunnel symptoms in my right hand during the surgery recovery -- MUCH less serious than before, just mild tingles rather than the bizarre combination of numbness and pain that repeatedly swamped me before the surgery -- but still. I am told that this is normal and the symptoms should continue to fade as my body recovers and there's less inflammation and scar response squeezing the neural passageway in question.

I have steri-strips glued over the scar. They will probably fall off during or after my shower tomorrow, but for the moment they are protecting the still sore incision area.

Tomorrow I'll probably start slathering the scar with Bag Balm, and probably some cortizone cream for the incessant itching.

Tomorrow I'm at Not the IRS from noon to theoretically 9pm. (In practice, it will almost certainly be about 8:15pm.) I don't have any clients scheduled, so hopefully I will either get a couple walk-ins and feel productive OR I will be able to catch up on some writing or on finishing a slightly overdue library book. We shall see how that goes.

And now, I think, to bed, because it has been a long day and I am tired. :) If you want to comment on this post, you can do so over here on Dreamwidth, where there are currently (
