Wicked's New Behind the Emerald Curtain Welcomes Espinosa, Fitzgerald and Maguire

Former Wicked cast members Eden Espinosa and Christopher Fitzgerald will help introduce a new version of the show's popular Behind the Emerald Curtain tour. Celebrating its fourth year of taking Wicked fans behind the scenes, the tour will welcome special guests throughout the fall, with Espinosa appearing on September 27 and Fitzgerald on October 11. Also scheduled as a guest is author Gregory Maguire, who wrote the novel on which the musical is based.

The revised Behind the Emerald Curtain includes new museum pieces and an all-new film produced especially for the tour, which focuses on how Broadway shows are created and run.

Espinosa made her Broadway debut in the original company of Wicked as a standby for Idina Menzel in the role of Elphaba, before taking over the role in 2006. Fitzgerald originated the role of Boq in the show. 2005. He's currently appearing in Young Frankenstein as Igor.

Note: The article does not specify whether this is for the NY or LA tours, so if you're interested in going, I recommend calling both the Pantages & Gershwin for confirmation - and then please let us know! I'm pretty sure this is for NY, though...

Gregory Maguire, whose novel "Wicked" was the inspiration for the hit musical of the same name, and former Wicked stars Eden Espinosa and Christopher Fitzgerald will take part in "Behind the Emerald Curtain," the backstage tour of the Broadway musical.

The 90-minute tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the hit musical. Run by current and former Wicked cast members, the tour features a 20-minute film of special footage from the musical, interviews with cast and creative team members, as well as a display of Eugene Lee's Tony-Award-winning set, an up-close look at some of Tony Award winner Susan Hilferty's costumes and props, wigs and masks from the show.

Eden Espinosa, who starred as Elphaba in the Broadway and Los Angeles runs of the musical, will take part in "Emerald Curtain" Sept. 27, while original Wicked cast member Christopher Fitzgerald (Boq) will be on hand Oct. 11. On Oct. 25, the "Emerald" tour will welcome author Maguire, who penned the best-selling "Wicked" novel.

McCarthy, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, music supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott.

Wicked's "Behind the Emerald Curtain" tours are held Saturdays at 10 AM at the Gershwin Theatre. Tickets, priced $25, are available by visiting Ticketmaster, or at the Gershwin Theatre box office.

NOTE: Eden has a performance in Orange County, CA the same day she's scheduled to do this, so it's safe to assume that she's doing this in LA and NOT NY...I think? lol
