"Here," Dean says, "let me."
Sam doesn't know what Dean means. He turns to look at him and Dean catches hold of his face by the jaw, holds him still, fingers digging in a little. Sam opens his mouth to speak, but then Dean's leaning in -- he can feel Dean's breath against his cheek, a little quick, a little shaky. "Dean?"
"Let me," Dean says again, and then he's, oh god, he's licking away the blood from the cut on Sam's cheek, and okay, it hurts, but Sam doesn't jerk away, because -- because it's Dean, and because surprisingly, despite the sting, despite the outright weirdness, it feels good.
"Dean?" he says, and fuck, it's like they're broken records. Dean stops, but he doesn't pull away.
"Sammy?" he says, quietly, and that shake is still there, that impossible damn shaking in his big brother's voice, the voice that should always be steady. And suddenly Sam can't say anything. He just turns, turns his head a little more, so Dean can feel his breath on his face too, the quick rush of it, the shake. And somehow, not really of his own volition, he's reaching up, fingers sliding into Dean's hair.
He waits.
