Kissing Franziska was a bad idea from the start. Phoenix knew that, but he'd kind of hoped the years had softened her a bit and he'd never been famed for his good sense anyway. After all, he was the one who always took on hopeless clients.
Still, he hadn't expected her to bite him.
"I take it you're not impressed," he said, surprised to find that his lip wasn't actually bleeding. Franziska smirked, in the way she always had when she'd been about to point out a damning contradiction in his latest theory, or present incriminating evidence.
And then she grabbed him by the tie, hauled him closer, and kissed him again.
He wondered why he'd expected kissing a woman who carried a whip to be anything like kissing someone normal.
