"I... remember," Kate said, softly. She looked at Rose, at Rachel, at Claire, at the space in the middle. "I... haven't forgotten."

"Me neither," Rose said, and then, biting her lip -- "What about Lise? Where is Lise?"

"Gone, I think," Claire said, quietly. "Like the rest of them."

They sat there for a while, not knowing what to do. Rose looked down at the flowers around them. Her eyes were watering, but she didn't cry. "Look at all the flowers. Such beautiful flowers..."

"It feels like a new beginning," Rachel said. "A chance to get everything right."

"We should be sad," Kate said, after another silence. Slowly, she stood up, trying not to crush any of the flowers. "But instead I feel like everything will be okay now."

She put a hand out to Rose, helping her up. Claire and Rachel stood too, though none of them moved.

"A new beginning..."

"A new chapter," Rachel said, thoughtfully. They all looked at each other.

"Time to go home."

It might have been Claire who said it. It didn't matter -- they were all thinking it.
