Summary: Leaving a good life behind.
"Are you coming or not, Leonhart?"
Squall looks from Fujin to Raijin to Seifer, then looks back at Fujin, raising an eyebrow, questioning, questioning. She shrugs her good shoulder, giving him a piercing look. He knows she'll go where Seifer goes. The problem is, she also wants to go where he goes. It would be much simpler for her if he and Seifer would go in the same direction, in the same way, for once.
After all, they ended up in the same places, one way or another, for entirely different reasons.
Squall loves Fujin. It's a love that didn't come all of a sudden, like the sudden tempestuous heat of love for Rinoa, and that brief spark of passion. It's a learned love, one that took time to step back and accept the patched eye, the lifeless arm, the loud voice.
And he's sure it took her some time to come to love him, too, but she does.
They've been through a lot together, so far. And now she wants him to leave Garden. It's like leaving home, except he's forgotten home, mostly. Home was an orphanage by the sea, where the gulls squawked and Zell cried and Quistis scolded and he was friends with Seifer. So he can't really compare this to that.
"COMING?" Fujin asks, as Seifer's already turning away. Waiting. Waiting as long as she can for him.
He picks up Lionheart, in answer.
