Summary: It's hard to forget your home. For
the_sandsea.
"You are going to tell me to stop thinking on things of the past," Balthier said, when Fran found him holding an old picture and staring down at it. Fran stepped delicately closer, sitting down beside him -- almost close enough to touch, though still holding herself apart.
"How could I?" she said softly. "I think of my own home still too. To scold you would be -- hypocritical."
"It's hard to leave one's home truly behind," Balthier said, slowly. He got up and put the picture aside impatiently. "One should not dwell on it."
Fran smiled just a little. "That is easier said than done, is it not?"
"We must help each other," he said, shrugging. "Shall we go and occupy ourselves in the city? Perhaps we might find a hunt to occupy us."
She found herself smiling again. "Perhaps that would be best," she said, rising to her feet. Mockingly, he offered her his arm, and she surprised herself by taking it. He led her out of the room -- out of the Strahl, and into the busy city.
