Summary: Most of the world celebrates the supposed end of the war; Seifer disagrees with the whole thing. For fic_on_demand.

"They're celebrating the end of the war," Raijin said, looking out of the window at the fireworks. Seifer sat on the floor, near the corner, his back against the wall. Fujin crouched beside him, watching him, the movement of his hands as he made Hyperion ready. She watched him put ammo in the chamber.

"They're idiots, then," he said. His voice was hoarse, grating a little, and he spoke as if with difficulty, as if remembering how. He looked up and caught Fujin staring at him, and stared right back until she had to look away. He got to his feet, going over to the window. He looked up at the sky, smirking a little. "I don't suppose their guards will be down, even if it is a celebration."

"No," Fujin said, simply. She moved to stand beside him, not quite as close as she might have, before. As if she didn't trust him not to lash out. He didn't take any notice of it. He didn't wince, even at the ones that screeched as they spiralled down, leaving their bright trails smoking behind them, the afterimages burned into the onlookers' eyes.

"Well," he said, after a moment, and he smirked again, turning to go to the door. "Let's go and turn their celebration into a funeral."

Neither of them said anything. But they followed him, as always.
