Summary: A fitting way for Vayne to end. For Polyhymnia, the muse of endeavours sacred to the gods. Heavy spoilers for the end of FFXII.
It is a fitting way to end for Vayne Carudas Solidor: dying hand in hand with a god. He is in no doubt that it is simply a delay of the end for Venat to mingle power with his blood: he has seen in the eyes of his brother his own defeat, as no doubt his elder brothers saw their defeat in his eyes once. Larsa, through the Lady Ashe and her party, will deliver the finishing blow. That, too, is fitting.
He will make it a good death -- he will not die gasping his life out in useless pleas, as his brothers did. He will fight, with all the power of Venat flowing through him, an unholy armour, a terrible benediction that will not save him from death.
Though he has always been prepared to kill, he has never yet been prepared to die, snatching his defeat from the jaws of victory. It is a new thing, this resolution, and yet it, too, is fitting. He will pay the debt -- he will die, at the hands of Lady Ashe and her party.
But still he will not waste Venat's final gift. Ashe, too, will pay her debts.
