Ruby sighs, making Blank look up. "Don't you just hate it here?" she says, giving him a direct look that startles him because mostly she ignores him.
"No," he says, but she isn't finished.
"Always following orders, never doing what I really want to do... I want to act, not steal things!"
"You could leave," he suggests, shrugging. He can't imagine doing so himself: even she gives him an odd look for the statement.
"Would you?"
"No, but I like it here. Maybe something better will come along for you," he says, annoyed at her belittling of their life.
"And maybe pigs will fly," she mutters.
