Summary: Most annoying is to make an unnecessary plot. For mount_ordeals.
They've long given up making Kain come home of his own free will, but at the same time, it's been bothering Cecil and Rosa that he just won't leave the mountain. He says he's not worthy, he says he's still paying for what he did.
Edge and Rydia aren't going to take that for an answer. They lay their plans carefully, they sacrifice time (and not a little money) to the cause, they make Cecil and Rosa laugh with their assurances and plots.
They find Kain coming down the mountain as they go up.
