Clearly my journey down to Florida has long since ended. Mom and I actually made it to Orlando on Sunday (making it two days ahead of schedule) stopping briefly at Knoxville, TN. We stayed at a Walt Disney Resort which was nice because it gave me a chance to relax and get used to Florida - haven’t been here in over a decade. The hotel was nice and I even got a facial which was an unusual thing for me to do. It helped built up my confidence for the following day: Wednesday, the Check-In day. I didn’t sleep at all Tuesday night and literally all-morning Wednesday I feeling funny, like I was going to throw-up. Check-In wasn’t that bad, however they did separate me and mom though (too soon ;__;)
I panicked as I was waiting in-line because people had their purple acceptances folder which it never occurred to me to bring and I thought maybe, just maybe everything was gone. Bust. And for a moment that seemed OK. I had all my other documents including my Passport . . . and going back didn’t happen. Instead I was shuttled around and got my Disney College ID, Landry Card, housing assignment -- managed to get Chatham Square, my first choice, it’s a 3-bed, 3-bath for six people -- and key, paperwork , had my fingerprints taken, yes, all that good stuff.
To Chatham Square apartments which are further way from things but are nicer and quieter. This was the part I was the least nervous for, if at all, I figured I could get along with anyone. As a plus my roommates turned out super nice anyhow. With me is Linsey and across the hall is Katie and then there’s Kelie and Larkin (quite the pair, got home just as I typed their names.) There should be one of us because we’re not sure where she is, so Katie is living solo for the moment. Then goodbyes to mom and we parted (very briefly as it turns out)
Went to the Welcome Meeting and then came home to realization that I forgot food and had no way of getting anyhow. I remembered then that I was supposed to go shopping; one of the reasons Day 1 is so short is for moving in and getting set-up. I felt like an idiot and called my mom. I didn’t know what else to do and the pressure and stress got to me and I cracked. Badly. She actually drove back from visiting some staff of hers’ in upper Florida. I feel so bad, it wasn’t my suggestion, and I felt so bad.
I ended up just throwing things in the cart but we were still there forever, it was horrible. Our cashier took forever scanning items and the people in front of us kept leaving in turns to find more items and dump them in front of us. Got back and said goodbye to mom again -- thus ended the odd emotional Check-In day.
Today went better. Got my classes done and I know where I’ll be working at: Epcot in East Attractions, so like Futureland, Mission Space, Test Track. Next up is Traditions which will be my hands-on training and I’m in Group 1 for tomorrow, this means a 5:20 wake-up.
Strangely, I used to here now and I think I like it here. Things are settling down. :3
