Revelation for the day-

Employers should allow a two drink maximum at work. I was talking with Anne in IM's about how word would be so much more tolerable if I could nurse a gin & tonic before lunch and then another after lunch.

I agree, except why only two? If one is still able to perform one's function, why not ten?

Flirting with disaster. lol Because we all know the sorts: "Oh! I can hold my liquor!"

Two drinks later said person is either sprawled out on the floor or singing the Star Spangled Banner while wearing nothing but a lampshade.

That said- there are times when I feel that 10 drinks would be mighty nice while at work. :D

Yeah. There are also people for whom 2 gin and tonics mean totally wasted. Particularly if they're on medicine or something like that. So even if it's 2 drinks, you're still relying on people's judgment about their limits. So, why have a maximum and just say, "You can't be too drunk to perform your job."

I was only treating as an extended joke. And jokes should always be extended out as far as possible. But yeah, lots of jobs actually DO allow drinking on the job, under certain circumstances. We had Wednesday kegs at National Instruments. Around 4:00pm every Wednesday, it was keg party time. And beer was regularly consumed at all hours there for no special reason.
