Inspiration.

So, I've been walking around with the idea of making a music video for a long time now. This is really what I'd like to do most. Making videos for up and coming bands. But the music has to be right. I can't get excited about a video if I'm not behind the music, because that is the main source for inspiration to me.
I really love this song by Royksopp (Happy up Here) and it has a video that in my opinion can not be bettered because it is awesome. But I can at least make a new version with a different approach.
Here's the video:

I also recently got my hands on the new Adobe Creative Suite and the new After Effects CS6 has a fantastic Camera Tracker that lets you do so called Match Move videos, in fact it analyses the video and calculates where in space the camera was positioned to film this video, then it makes a new camera that follows that exact same path so that you can introduce new elements into the scene and it will look like these were part of the original scene.
I published examples of that effect on Twitter and Facebook but here it is once more so you know what I mean:

Now for the idea I had:
I want to open the clip with these objects moving in time with the music and floating in different street scenes. In the first part we just see a few of these objects, each in a different location.
In the second part I want to have people come up to these objects and looking all puzzled.
Then in the third part it turns out these objects are hostile and they shoot energy beams at the people watching them. We get views from the objects point of view, seeing these people as targets in an electronic display.
Then in the fourth and last part we see the humans being assimilated, they become the objects! We see them frozen as an object but moving with the music the same way the objects do, in scale and rotation on different axis.

What do you think? I thought it would make a pretty awesome music video, with plenty of opportunity to pull out all the stops with the special effects.
Now this is not going to be easy, I know but it would make a great showreel for me to show what I can do and I really need a good promotional video if I want people to hire me for projects like this.

So that's it for now :)
