So let me tell you about my newest hobby. I guess some people might find it morbid or weird, but I see it as a mix of scavenger hunt, history, driving, and photography - and you get to help people. I'm sure most of you have heard of
findagrave.com, where you can visit the virtual memorials/shrines of famous and ordinary people.
A couple of weeks ago, I found another feature on the site. If you join and enter your zip code, you can view requests that people have posted for your area... requests for photos of their relatives' headstones! Last week I posted a request for my grandfather's headstone in New Jersey, and someone took a picture of it for me. And this weekend, I drove around my hometown and took six photos that people had requested. Several of them were at a tiny church cemetery about ten miles out of town. I had never heard of this place, so it was cool to drive out there.
