"He is not a good man"

Today I called in sick. I needed to recoop after last week's voice losing incident. The students were not well behaved either last week, so I'm sure that influenced my decision to call in. Whatever, it's over. Tomorrow is a new day. But I realized just how long a day can be when I'm not at work. Here it is 6:30 pm and I've managed to accomplish quite a bit around the house. There's still 24 hours in a day.

Remember when Kerry mentioned the L word about Cheney's daughter, the one they hide? Then Mrs. Cheney went on to say about Kerry "this is not a good man". I still don't quite get it. Edwards mentioned it and Cheney said thanks, and Kerry meant it as a way to show how different families deal with it. So when Republican Alan Keyes went so far as to call the hidden daughter a "selfish hedonist", where was Mrs. Cheney then? All this hypocrisy causes me to think that maybe just maybe this is the Republican Party's mess that they made, but blamed on Kerry. Don't you? What's so bad about saying the L word? NOTHING!!! Unless of course you're ashamed of it. Are you Lynne, are you? So instead of the headlines lately saying "Is our country as comfortable with gays as we should be?", the headline is "John Kerry Hits Below the Belt". And of course the Republicans aren't doing this to appeal to gays, cause they have no chance with them anyway, and that would piss off they're huge Christian base, which is bigger than anything ever. They're doing this to appeal to the moderate voter who isn't homophobic, but is too uniformed to know that Bush is in fact the biggest homophobe president we've ever had. God help us if this is why we lose the election.

The sermon at church was as suggestive as our priest could possibly be about voting for Kerry. Then again, going up on a pulpit in the name of God and saying exactly who to vote for, that misses the point doesn't it? As Maureen Dowd said "What does it tell you about a president that his grounds for war are so weak that the only way he can justify it is by believing God wants it?" Look at how divided we become. Don't we forget just who we're trying to serve? Bush forgot, and I believe that so strongly that's why I decided to put so much energy toward this campaign.

Still looking for suggestions should the worst day of my life occur next Tuesday. It very well may be...
