Not too shabby.

Poor scary Mary!

Big storm apparently coming our way. Looks like a trip to Shaw's is in the works. That and laundry and grading (the quarter closed yesterday).

We rented "A Door in the Floor". It was depressing. Definately not a happy ending. It did examine the minds of the characters quite well, but not in an "Oh I can relate" kind of way. It was more of a lesson on those people's lives. Good acting too by Jeff Bridges, Kim Basinger, and Jon Foster, the kid.

When movies are promoted, obviously the more experienced actor is headlined as the star. That's not a new concept at all (Nicholson over Keaton in Batman). But to me, in this past movie, Jon Foster had the lead role, but he's too young to be considered a lead headlining actor. Certainly Jeff Bridges earned his due as far as experience is concerned, and he did a great job. Oscar contention so I hear. I just think it would make sense that he be in the supporting actor category, but that's not going to happen.

Speaking of Michael Keaton, I hear that White Noise is a bomb. That's okay, Michael, you tried. Contrary though to what I heard on Fox News. You see, conservatives aren't content with controlling all branches of government and the news media, they must go after every target while they're at it.
A couple of weeks ago I was watching Neil Cavuto (quite possibly the dumbest man on the planet) and he had on some movie critic saying that Keaton's flop is a sign of "typical Hollywood arrogance" because he made it big in Batman and has only done artsy movies since. They were saying that he needs to do movies with more commercial success, like Nicole Kidman who has balanced art (The Hours) with commercial success (Bewitched). Maybe that's good advice, but in the long run, who cares? I don't think Fox News really does. They just want to make Hollywood seem as stupid as possible. Is that discussion really a sign of Keaton's arrogance or Fox News'? I'm going with the latter.
