When a Story Needs a Compass

Feb 27, 2007 11:03

I keep a notepad by the bed to write story ideas in when I'm going to sleep. I've only started doing this recently, and have been pleasantly surprised at how legible I can write in the dark, and how little I usually need to write. Still, it hurts when one gets away. I distinctly remember thinking the following was enough:

"What does it run on, air?"
"No," he said. "Attention."

Yes, that's supposed to be enough to remind me of a whole, involved plot. Sigh.
