Animation Shorts

My RSS feeds have delivered three outstanding short animated cartoons, running the gamut from realistic through surrealistic and landing on abstract.

The first, from Daily Animation is Reach, from Luke Randall, a metaphor for overreaching ambition and the brevity of life.

Drawn points me at Love & Theft, by Andreas Hykade. I love its progression of recognizable cartoon faces. I think its feel is much more akin to underground comix.

Finally, via Cartoon Brew, I learn that Michel Gagné , hugely talented NW cartoonist, spent four years working on hand-drawing the animation to accompany an avant-garde jazz piece by Paul Plimley (piano) and Barry Guy (bass). For this one I'll direct you to Michel's site to watch Sensology in high def.
