Final Fantasy XIII Reviews/Opinions?

Anyone out there have any opinions or reviews on FF XIII? Pretty much what I've heard/seen suggests it's kind of an endless string of combats that are extremely pretty, but there's no real interaction-based encounters or non-combat encounters

You should ask Adam what he thinks.. he picked it up and has been playing it today.

Belatedly: I've been enjoying it though it's very, very linear till late in the game and it feels a bit like you're being led around by you nose. I actually at least like some of the characters though, which I didn't in 12, so I'm interested in what happens to them.

There are a LOT of combats. And you're right there's no out of battle interactions between people mostly. The combat system is a little clunky till you get used to it and it can often be a bit button mashy/non-interactive because the menus are hard to navigate fast enough to not get your ass handed to you since the fights are often hard, wandering monster fights have killed me on more than one occasion and there's a game 'cap' on leveling in that you can only advance your track so far until you've reached certain points in the game. Though weapon upgrades you can continue to do with no cap but the amount of money you have.

So it's not bad, it's still a little more MMO than I'd like. And it really is awesomely gorgeous.
