Being stuck in an office with negotiating agents was rapidly becoming Eddie's idea of hell. For hours on end. All he wanted was to play out the season. Slowly Jason pulled back from their embrace to make eye contact. "There's a man," Jason paused and took Devlin's picture out of the inside of his suit coat in order to hold it up to show Eddie. "He's the enemy of one of m'mates, Carolina. His names Jack Devlin and I took him t'task the other day and now, he wants t'put the piss int'me. He doesn't know who you are, or anything about you but that I have a boyfriend. I have people watching Colt just in case he thinks hurting a child is right, but right now m'more concerned about you."
Jason swallowed searching Eddie's gaze. "I know this is allot f'you to take in, but I need you to listen to me. My best mate, Mike Pinocchio is at y'house right now, checking it, making certain y'protected. He's going t'be shadowing you for a while whether m'with you or not. He knows y'precious to me, Baby and he won't let me down."
Jason cupped Eddie's cheek in one hand. "I love y'Yank, and this is going t'be over before y'know it. I just want you t'get away from this man if y'happen to see him. Don't let him near you, all right? Because if you see him you know that Mike or myself is there as well. I promise you."

If there was someone at his house, checking it out to make sure it was safe, then that meant the guy, Devlin, might go after him there. At his house. Which was supposed to be safe already, because people aren't supposed to break in and try to hurt him. And now there was going to be some guy following him around? Eddie swallowed and tried to be a little more eloquent. "What...how...I...what are you going to do?"
He was hoping, probably absurdly, that Jason wasn't going to be in danger, that he would be well out of it too.

Jason leaned foreward and kissed Eddie's forehead. "Anatoly is downstairs, he's going t'take y'home in Vanya's car. I want y't'stay there and wait f'me okay? I have a few things I need t'do and then I'll be over. You and me can have a soak in the bath, yeah? Maybe have a cuddle and talk about what room y'going t'give t'Colt."
Jason inhaled Eddie's scent, feeling his bangs tickle either side of his nose. "God I love you, Baby." Jason whispered against Eddie's skin as he hugged him tightly.

Take care of him. What did that mean? What was Jason going to do? If Jason was getting someone to watch out for Eddie, probably Devlin was dangerous. And Jason was going after him? Eddie found all of a sudden that he didn't want to let Jason go. "You...you better not come back with even a scratch on you. You promise me."
I couldn't stand seeing you hurt.

Jason rubbed the back of Eddie's neck and winked at him. "C'n y'give us a kiss before I walk y'to the car?"
Jason wanted to taste Eddie: needed the quiet storm to break over him.

"Just one?" He smiled weakly and pressed his lips against Jason's, the kiss not weak at all. Although the longer it went the more desperate it became, until Eddie was holding tightly onto Jason and kissing him breathless
He didn't want this. He didn't want people coming after them. Eddie didn't belong in a life like that, and he didn't want Jason to either.

Once his racing heartbeat was more under control he severed the kiss and looked into Eddie's blue eyes.
"It's okay, Baby. Y'don't have t'be afraid now. M'here. I'll take care of everyrhing I promise you." He brushed his lips against Eddie's. "Now let's get y'downstairs so y'can go home and relax."

"All right," he acceded, at least to the going home part. "But you take care of yourself before you take care of anything else." I need you to be okay.
All the way down in the elevator, he was trying to think of a reason for Jason not to go, to keep him with Eddie. And he couldn't think of one that would work.

Jason kissed Eddie on the cheek and whispered, "Don't worry, Baby. It'll be all right." before parting.
Jason closed the door for Eddie and looked at the Russian driver and his friend. "He gets home safe, no matter who y'have t'kill."
"Do not worry Jason." Anatoly assured him placing a hand upon Jason's shoulder. "He is in the best hands."
Jason nodded and watched the limo pull way and into to traffic. Now it was time for the real game to begin....
