Late Night with Conan O'Brien: Final Week: Episode Three: Mini-Critique.

Feb 19, 2009 01:03

I'm gonna have a busy day tomorrow, so I dunno if I'll be able to finish this post. But for now, here's my comments of the show as it happened.

Joel said something weird. Sounded like it was dubbed in later.
Bloomberg.
Staple Triumph the Insult Comic Dog bit.
Destroys a podium.
Wrecks the floor.
La Bamba has to use someone else's mic. Brilliant.
Martha Stewart got some big applause.
Martha Stewart Sketch.
Taco Bell and a 40 Oz. From Martha Stewart. Awesome.
Nathan Lane.
He is not good with stand up material.
Pianist. "Don't need another ascot" wtf?
Mark Shaiman KICKS ASS.
Those were some clever lyrics. I wonder if your less frequent Conan watcher got half of those references.
I had to sit through Nathan Lane's tired shtick to get to the song, but it was worth it.
Flubs from Late Nights past, had me laughing so hard. My chest hurts now.
Does Conan have sadness in his voice?
Robots bears and Lincolns. Is that all the Pimpbot 9000 we're going to get this week? I hope not. Is it too much to ask to have someone new don the damn robot costume?
HES DESTROYING MORE!!! AWESOME.

Edward Vincent
He's destroying more of the set

Connie Chin
man hes having a field day

Edward Vincent
i've heard this theory
that people really like it when stuff is destroyed. Especially if it's expensive.

Connie Chin
true

Edward Vincent
One of the reasons people liked Bond movies, cause in each one, a brand new car was destroyed.

Connie Chin
its a symbol of power
and value
er mainly value
the more money = more value = more power

Edward Vincent
mm
i kind of look at it like
something expensive
is like a symbol of the people in power
and destroying it
is like removing that power
it doesn't give anyone power
but it takes it away

Connie Chin
it makes common people feel they are in power
it takes away from those who have it
its sort of like
when people take down a statue of a king
there some satisfaction
that makes common people feel they are empowered
