I stopped at Takhlakh Lake a few weeks ago when I went down to the Indian Heaven Wilderness and to the Klickitat Canyon in the southern Washington state Cascade Range.  There is a forest service campground at this lake that featured a few years ago as the best campground in the state in a AAA magazine.  Since then, it's been full the entire summer each year till September.  From then until the roads are closed by snow (the altitude here is about 4500ft so it snows early) the campground is empty or nearly so.  I counted only one other vehicle when I was there.  The weather is usually comfortable in September and October and if you take your canoe or kayak out on the lake, you'll have it all to yourself.  Any time I'm in the area, I stop and take a walk along the shoreline and watch the ripples set across the calm water by the local ducks.    very blue sky and reflection - cool clear air
