I'm leaving this post open so that potential members of the community can read it as well.

Please read the rules before joining or posting to this community.  I consider this community to be very laid back thus far, and I'd like to keep it that way.  I hate having to pull out the guns and delete posts, or even delete members if need be, but it must ( Read more... )

if the last paragraph is referring to my disappointment about the person being accepted, let me state that isn't anything put on the MODS here at all. it would be too much work to scope through people, but i really think that as this community grows, it'd be good to have some sort of application process eventually. nothing stupid, just something intelligent and filtering (like ed_ucate's process). you have enough MODS to make sure that applications are taken care of, and that way, you can get a feel for a person a little bit before they come in and do an introduction post and waste your time :)

just a suggestion.

I've been thinking about starting an application process, but I haven't gotten around to it for a couple reasons, really. One being, I know a bunch of extremely intelligent women that refuse to apply to proanorexia because they don't feel it necessary to fill out an application about their eating disorder. I have to agree with them. Also, we can just weed out the crappy posts by deleting them, warning the poster, or banning the poster if need be. I think that doing it this way gives everyone a fair shot. Some people just don't know how to put their feelings or experiences into words, and I would feel really shitty if I turned away someone because I *personally* didn't think they had an ED, based on some application. Basically everyone here is on a "trial period" at first. Some people are gonna hit the ball out of the park, while others are gonna blow it. That's when the MOD's step in and control the situation. Ya know?

oh, i definitely understand. i trust you judgment in it and i know you guys really want this to be a great community -- every thing's new and eventually you'll find a process that works best for you :) i, personally, won't join communities that ask for applications unless it's one that has to do with getting in, and doesn't involve BS like your stats or 'goals' or anything like that. anyway, yes. i love this place. so if there's anything i can ever do to help you guys out, just gimmie a yell :D

I`m far from intelligent, but your right.it took me 3 months to fill out the application and send it in to PA.I find it hard to talk about my ed,i honestly can`t face the intro here,i almost become mute and can`t type.at the moment i`m suffering from the most server depression and can`t think for a moment why anyone would want to hear anything about my miserable existence.
AARGH! ok i can`t believe i`m posting this here.i`v gone way off point.i think your all doing a great job and seeing the mods comment and post, just, well it makes me smile,to know your looking out for us,i`v never felt that before.

i think that if this community really explodes and gets large, then we will have to come up with a filtering process but i think for right now, we'll stick with what we can do and if one or two slide by then we delete and move on. thanks so much for your input! <3
