Warning: My recollection of this film is actually very, very fuzzy.
He couldn't keep himself from walking past her vacant room.
He had sent her away from him because of a betrayal, but he wasn't sure who it was more painful for - him or her. How had he fallen for her so deeply? Why hadn't he seen her true nature before? Her disloyalty had stung him in a manner that Akbar had never known before, and the world seemed a little less brighter without Jodhaa around. He found himself wandering the halls of his palace listlessly, staring distantly into the horizon; he couldn't even focus on matters of his kingdom.
And he couldn't keep himself from walking past her vacant room.
He couldn't step foot inside, though. The threshold was a barrier he dare not cross, for if he did, he wasn't sure what would happen. Jodhaa, he thought. How could you have betrayed me so? No matter how long he deliberated on the thought, no answer came to him. He wondered if he'd ever learn the truth behind her actions.
Until then, until that moment he finally figured out her reasons, he would not step foot into that room. That room, which should have been theirs, not hers. He wouldn't lay eyes on it until he was ready.
That still didn't stop him from walking past her vacant room, every day.
