Original Fiction Meme...

Since this is my life right now, anyways.

1. What is the working title of your next book?
My next book? Not the one I'm working on now?  That would be either "The People's Prince" or "Prince of the People"  Or "The People's Soldier".  Or something like that, depending on who the focus character ends up being.  Though that may change.

2. Where did the idea come from for the book?
Next book is second in the series.  I'm finishing the first one now, and it came from two things.  1) Me wondering what I would do if my husband died and 2) a puzzle.

3. What genre does your book fall under?
Fantasy.  Complete with magic and dragons.

4. What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?
Mostly, I don't know, but America Ferrera, I think, looks kind of like the main character's best friend...

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
In the process of finding her way after her husband's death, a mother is pulled into the political unrest afflicting her nation.

6. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Yes.

7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?
The current novel WILL HAVE A COMPLETED FIRST DRAFT BY THE END OF THIS MONTH!  If I say the first effective pen-to-paper of actual story writing rather than writing background or world-building or whatever, then it's been about 15 months.  But the process of discovering this world and getting to here has taken closer to 3 years, I think.

8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
None!  It's one-of-a-kind!  No, that's not true, though my goal was to pull in a few things that I don't feel I often see in Fantasy.  Um... If I had to pick something to compare it to, it's probably most like the collaboration Feist did with Wurts...  Their Daughter of The Empire series.

9. Who or what inspired you to write this book?
Pick one?  I can't!  Myself, my mother, our current political climate, my kid, my husband, a puzzle (see above)...  Is life a valid answer?

10. What else about the book might pique the reader’s interest?

Strong female leads/characters, and attention to the importance of family relationships.
