Just a badge, they're rather common from my place.

What are they for?

Trainers who defeat gym leaders in pokemon battles. Once a trainer acquires eight badges they qualify for the elite four where they can challenge themselves and become champions.

What's a Pokemon?

They're what people here would call an animal. I guess the main difference is pokemon are more capable for battle than your average beast.

How capable?

It depends on how trained the pokemon is. Some are weaker than others, and few can be undefeatable at times.

So you train these animals so you can pit them against each other in battle?

[ecruteaksghost]

Not necessarily. Not every one trains to battle. They work like we do, have jobs. They're also friends as well as help when needed.

What an awkward world. I've never heard of things like that.
