I went to bed at 5:30 am this morning. This is my day from then on:
My teacher was kind enough to give me 15 minutes after class to finish my test.
When I got back to my dorm, I went to bed. I woke up at 2:33 pm when Vince came in our room and turned on the lights. Ater about 3 times of me/Lissan asking, he finally turned off the lights. I got up anyway because Tran was going around collecting money that we are giving as a Christmas gift to the woman that cleans our dorm. It was then that I looked outside. All I could see was white. It was a snow blizzard...It was snowing like mad! I threw on a couple layers of clothes and ran outside in the boots I'm so glad I had to buy for the junior backpacking trip. PS- smartwools in the north: a good idea. I went on my way to the quad, where I was told you could not see across because of how much snow there wasand how windy it was. On my way I thought I heard Lissan's voice. I turned and looked at the hill and tried, for about 5 minutes, to figure out if they were my friends or not. I saw I bright yellow jacket that I thought was Vince's, and when I heard him speak with his Coloradan accent, I knew it was them. I ran at him and pushed him a few feet, and then he picked me up and threw me on the ground...cold. Then Lissan and I got on Gnome's tube to sled down the huge hill. Gnome told me that if it looked like I was going to hit a tree, bail. I said ok and they pushed us down. We were going so fast, and we were going backward. I thought I'd glance behind me to see if we were going to hit anything, and I saw the tree that is encircled in a stone area. I yelled "BAIL" and tried to roll off the tube. I didn't realize how fast we were going, but I figured it out soon enough. As soon as I rolled off, the side of my head slammed into the stones. Lissan hit it backwards with her whole body, so she was alright. My head started hurting, and now I have a huge bump that looks like I have a really high, misplaced cheekbone on the left side of my face. After some fighting and chilling (no pun intended) in the snow...
...everyone went back in, but Dave and I wanted to play some more, so we stayed out only to realize that it wasn't as much fun with just two people. As we walked back to Metcalf, I had to hold Dave at arms-length so he wouldn't hump me (Dave likes to hump everybody). Then we simultaneously decided that we were going to push the other into the snowy hedges, both unsuccessfully, all the way to the door. When we got in, Sweta had to go out to drop off a paper at Eaton. Since I wanted to play in the snow some more, I walked with her. We stopped on the library roof (it was pure white...we were the first up there in the snow), where I made a snow angel. I was soaked in snow when I got up, but we still had to make a few stops on the way back to the dorm. I sat on the cannon...
...took pictures of the crocodile tree (as I named it, because its roots look like crocodiles) covered in snow...
...and a tree with a random square of hay in front of it (it was so weird I had to take a picture).
Then we went back and I changed out of my soaked clothes into some freshly washed warm jeans. I hung up my wet jacket, and I took off my boots and slipped on my fuzzies. I was going to go downstairs. I shut the door, took a few steps and thought, "shit, I hope the door is not locked." I went back and guess what, it was. Lissan had just gone to the shower, so she lacked a key and clothes. I called the TUPD for a key, and they said they don't deliver keys until 5, so I had to go to the Reslife building at 520 boston ave (at least a 10 minute walk). Dhriti gave me some shoes (that were a bit too small) since I was wearing fuzzies, and she lent me her jacket. I walked all the way to reslife with the shoes that make you slip more than iceskates. On my way, I was nearly run over by a sidewalk snow-plow, which decided to back up really fast though I'm pretty sure it was aware that I was right behind it. I got there, got the key, and walked all the way back, super-pissed that my warm jeans were now soaked at the bottoms (the snow is about 5 inches deep!) I saw about 3 cars stuck in the snow. When I got back to Metcalf, I tried the fob only to find that they had given me the wrong one. Anthony had warned me of that. Lucky for me, Jose and Nick were outside talking, and they let me in. I got up, unlocked my door, and since then it's been fun.
I'm not saying today was a bad day. On the contrary, I thought all the shit that happened was pretty funny. And I don't mind bruises...I'm actually hoping this fake cheekbone turns purple.
Anyway, I love it here, and my friends are a blast, and I can't wait till I go home so I can see everyone and spend an entire month with them. But first I have to worry about finals. I'm only actually worried about one, so it's all good.
...
Oh, and then there was the annual Naked Quad Run. It is a Tufts tradition, in which any and all Tufts students who want to, go up to the Quad, strip, and run laps until they feel like calling it quits. A huge majority of the streakers get wasted before hand. There were police here and there, and there were Dunkin Donuts and hot chocolate. From the West Side, Vince, Dave, Sweta, and Liz ran naked. Oh, and then there was our RA, Shai, who decided it wasn't weird to come up to us and have a conversation...naked. When we left, Dave and Vince decided that, since we've seen them naked already, they are going to be naked more often. A few ppl from South Hall were over in Kev's room, but that didn't stop vince and dave from coming in repeatedly and dropping their pants. And Dave decided to give me a big hug, and there wasn't much that I could do about it. There were tons of naked quad runners, and a lot of them fell on the ice. Oh, and before the race, Lissan, Mike from East Side, and some other dude decided to ride the Jumbo elephant statue. They sat on it, and the other dude i don't know decided to pull all of them down. PS- Jumbo is pretty much a life-sized elephant...thats a big drop. Oh, and the police made them show their IDs, and told them never to get on Jumbo again. Good thing they didn't smell the alcohol...Lissan was more drunk than usual...she was actually being loud (she's usually pretty chill when she drinks a bit).
So tonight, instead of "Is there a party?!" it was "did you run naked tonight?!"
After a while of hanging out and seeing Vince and Dave way more naked than we would have wanted, Gnome and I went upstairs and watched The Last Crusade. I forgot how much I loved it.
I think tonight was the craziest night we have had at Metcalf since we've been here! And all the cred goes to Vince and Dave, or rather, VD, as a drunken Vince calls them. "I'm Venereal, and he's Disease." Later Vince pinched my cheeks and said "you're so cuuuute." Wasted much? I think so!
