[Someone had bombed his room, and if Phoenix were to hazard a guess, it would be to pin the blame on the woman who had threatened to kill him earlier and specifically mentioned bombs. He had no idea who she was or what she was capable of ( Read more... )

*Marco was on his way between the flower deck and his room when he came across Phoenix on deck 12. Lately he wasn't being very social, but he did need to ask the other man a few things. So Marco raises a hand in greeting.*

Hey.

[Phoenix sees Marco about the same time that Marco spots him. He lifts his hand as well, fairly certain that Marco isn't connected to the bombing of his room.]

Marco. How have you been?

Fine, given everything that's happened.

*That's not entirely true, and he doesn't bother to hide it.*

You? I noticed you attracted some attention lately.

[Phoenix frowns, eyeing Marco. He didn't fail to catch that something is slightly off.]

You're certain?

[At the reminder of his own problems, Phoenix grimaces.]

It is nothing I cannot manage. I have quite honestly dealt with worse. Still... Would not happen to know someone who is proficient with explosives?

*Marco mumbles a 'it doesn't matter,' then shakes his head.*

Only if you're willing to talk to Jinx. Why?

[Jinx, having heard that explosion, is on his way to the luggage deck because nobody one ups him. 38< He's in a pretty decent mood, being half drunk and all, but that doesn't mean that Jinx will completely ignore what that man did to Maia.

Also, Marco, this wasn't Jinx's fault.]

Hey, Marky, get yer facts straight.

[Oh great, just what Phoenix needs. See that look of distaste on his face? The one you give something you scraped off your shoe?

Yeah. That's a hint. Phoenix doesn't exactly like Jinx.

He snorts.]

And what facts might those be, pray tell?

*Speak of the devil...*

So you really don't know what you're doing, then?

*Marco went over the conversations. He's pretty sure it wasn't Jinx. Or he would be, if he knew of the explosion in the first place. But he can guess, based on Phoenix's question and Harley's words earlier.*

[Jinx scoffs. He's happy that his reputation is so well known, but he's not going to take the credit form someone else.]

That it wasn't me that planted th' explosives, that's what.

[Jinx may be a complete moron, but he is honest. He give Marco the friendliest smile.]

Oh, I do. I'd never put somethin' so powerful right next ta' a room.

So nice to know that you aren't intent on killing me, Jinx.

[Hear that sarcasm, Jinx? Yeah, just for you. ♥

He turns back to Marco, deliberately snubbing his fellow kinsman.]

As you can see, I'm not particularly inclined to work with Jinx on this. Besides, I'm not certain I would trust his state of sobriety.

I see how it is. You just want to pretend Marco isn't here :( ntjstapwn November 17 2010, 02:32:37 UTC
*Marco outwardly ignores Jinx. Nothing can be gained by arguing with him.*

I'm afraid I've only overheard two people on this ship mentioning making bombs. I don't think you want want to ask the other, either, given your last coversation with her.

Yup, an' if I was it'd be just a touch more spectacular. Gotta keep my street cred.

[Sarcasm is a game Jinx can play very well, actually.

Way to be, Marco. Now Jinx can justify murdering you accidentally: Because you just don't listen. Keeping his back towards Marco, Jinx folds his arms.]

State of sobriety? What, ya' think I'm drunk? Hell, I don't have time fer this. Th' boat's takin' too long ta' figure this out anyway.

[And Jinx is off to rat out Phoenix because awesome.]

[Phoenix only watches Jinx for a moment, snorting softly again. He isn't about to stop the other man from leaving.

It doesn't occur to him that that's probably a mistake.]

Yes, I strongly suspect that whoever that woman was, she is the one responsible for bombing my room.

*Only outwardly ignoring. Marco makes little mental files of everything Jinx says and does. ...Actually, he does that for a lot of people.*

Mm...it seems likely.

*He turns his head a bit, so he can watch Jinx leave out of the corner of his eye. Marco's questions for Phoenix were best asked with less people around.*

[Phoenix's eyes shift from watching Jinx to scanning the rest of the deck - difficult to do considering all the stacks of luggage.]

Needless to say, I'm not keen on returning to my room until I am sure it is safe. Thus why I asked if you knew anyone good with bombs. I'll have to ask other people, then.

[Jinx is gone now, safely out of view.]

And what about you?

I can understand that. They don't feel nearly as safe now that they don't lock.

*He shrugs*

I've been thinking a lot lately, though I still don't have any answers. That and practicing my aim...

*He pauses for a moment. Just because Jinx is out of sight, doesn't mean he can't hear. But it should have been enough time...*

What happened with you, Maia and Anna?
