[Phoenix's voice comes on for the first time in well over two weeks. He sounds calm, vaguely curious, but definitely paying attention to the comm.]

If you had to catch a bird in flight, how would you go about doing so?

[Locked to Maia - 69% unhackable]

[His voice hardens.]

Maia.

Why would you want to?

If the bird is a threat, it will need to be dealt with.

[A slight pause as it occurs to him that Odette might take this a little too personally.]

I am not be literally, at least not precisely. The bird is a figure of speech.

[Odette's quiet for a minute before she offers a suggestion.]

A cage? Even if it doesn't have bars, it's still a cage.

Hmm. A good idea, but I'd need to find a way to lure it in. Unfortunately, bait must be specific to the quarry.

[She hms.]

Well I guess it depends on what kind of bird you're trying to catch. [Just who is she talking about here?] Some don't require bait at all. Others can be trickier. But if you know the right button to press then you'll have it eating out of the palm of your hand.

Hmm... The right button...

[That is a thought, and one he'll have to think on further. But not with Odette. Not exactly.

An amused smile tugs at the corners of his lips.]

If I were trying to catch you, what bait would you prefer?

[There's a tiny 'oh' at his question. Not that she isn't used to being asked that sort of thing. Just...not from Phoenix. It just caught her off guard. She collects herself and despite how coy she sounds, she's actually blushing.]

That's hard to say, Phoenix. Especially since I may already be caught.

[Okay so she'll flirt a little. But that's totally to cover up how flattered she really is.]

[Oh? Flirting with him? The smile blooms in full and Phoenix leans forward, his voice a little warmer as he speaks into the comm.]

Is that so? Caught by whom, I wonder. Should I be worried about freeing you from someone else's trap?

I couldn't very well tell you all of my secrets, now could I?

[A smile is in her voice.]

I think you should. Perhaps you should hurry, I believe they'll be here soon to carry me off.

Foul villains, trapping a beautiful maiden such as you. Not that I can fault their taste. [Yes, he's lightly teasing.]

Tell me, where have they imprisoned you?

A simply dreadful place.

[For a minute the comm changes features and there's a wisp of blonde hair before the camera focuses on Odette's face. She grins and it's clear she's sitting in a booth in Sergei's.]

[Phoenix turns his video on in turn, treating Odette to a very grave face.]

Indeed. There are few places that would be worse to be alone. Do not worry, Odette. I will be there shortly. You should not have to suffer without some company.

[He's already on his way.]
