I am looking for information on the British people during the time period of World War Two. Having been informed that using the library books may require sacrificing other memories, among other unpleasant effects, I would prefer to avoid them if possible.

[That's not to say that he won't resort to reading if he can find no other alternative.]That ( Read more... )

I don't suppose you know anything about slang or military terms common to the time? Otherwise, general information will do.

[She gives a quiet chuckle.]

Non, nothing like that.

I can...try to remember a timeline, though. [She laughs quietly again.]

But this is pulling from school memories. I Will likely forget something.

It will still be more than I have, and it would be useful to know what things might have happened and when.

[After all, if he mentions a specific event that hasn't happened for Jennifer yet, that might make his story more difficult to believe.]

If...I can remember correctly, it started in 1939 and ended in 1945.

[This is going to be a struggle. Everything she remembers from her books was in her own language. Translating is going to be hard. Her accent thickens a little.]

It ah...involved most of the world's nations. It was very big, and...very bad for everyone involved. It was...organized into two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis powers.

[Phoenix wonders about that accent, but now is not the time.]

Which countries belonged to which side?

[Now there is a pitfall he should most certainly avoid.]

[That is a good and very smart question, Phoenix.]

At the start of the war, the Allies were France, Poland, and the Great Britian. After...hmm, 1941, I think it was, the leaders of the British Empire, the USSR, and America held the power. [She stumbles over a lot of the translations, especially the countries.]

The Axis powers consisted of Germany, Japan, and Italy.

[Those names and their associated alliance are carefully noted.]

Would you happen to know who ruled Great Britain at the time?
