[Why hello there, lovely trees in the park. Khrista will now be using you for target practice, shooting off branches and stuff. And yes, she's glowing now. Uh-oh.]
She whirled around sharply, blaster still in hand and pointed at him, only for her to realize a moment later who it was. When she finally recovered from that little bout of surprise, she turned to the side and fired at another tree, setting its leaves on fire.
"I remembered the horror stories about the sort of people who were here last time, so when I heard that I came to investigate." That was obviously the noise of the blaster.
"You believe in that?" she asked, idly watching the burning leaves. There was a strange aura around her, one which made it look like she was glowing. Highly unusual for most people, but given who her parents are, it was a natural reaction to such an emotional outburst.
Marcus had been pretending not to notice the glow. "I doubt all of our parents would lie about something like that. Especially not the exact same lie."
Something in what Marcus said set off another flare in her, and she angrily fired a couple more blasts at the already-burning tree. "Lies. That's all they ever were. Lies!"
Nero came running, joining Marcus. He'd frozen the burning tree with a spell, but there was no stopping the girl's wrath, apparently. "What the hell is going on?" he asked; while he wasn't surprised to find the other two in the same place at the same time, Khrista throwing a fit and nearly setting the whole forest on fire was something else entirely. Was she that upset about Merlot and Maria?
"Khrista, you're not going to solve anything by getting yourself killed starting a forest fire!" Marcus' tone had shifted to the one he generally used when trying to stop Nausy doing something that was not only stupid, but life-threatening. This probably wouldn't help, but unfortunately he hadn't noticed.
"Who the hell are you to tell me what to do?" Khrista snapped, and from where he stood, Nero grimaced. She definitely had Maria's fire - even too much of it, in fact.
"I'll... take care of the damage," he told Marcus, getting another spell ready. He'd rather deal with a spazztic Nausy, honestly.
Nero sighed. Neither of them was listening to him.
"Suicidal," Khrista started, lifting her blaster to point it to her head, "would be this. But, you're right. Still-" She tucked the gun back into its holster and charged up to him, clearly angry. "-you're in no position to meddle into my affairs!"
Marcus's eyes widened involuntarily at the gesture with the blaster, but he plunged on. "I was under the impression that being your friend put me in a position to try to stop you when you were putting the entire compound, never mind yourself, in danger!"
"Then you're wrong," Khrista shot back, stopping barely a foot away from him. "I don't need you. I don't need anyone. I can take care of myself just fine!"
"Says the woman trying to burn a forest down around her! Just because you don't think you need anyone doesn't mean no one cares about you!" Marcus wasn't paying a great deal of attention to what he was saying at the moment.
Another tree caught fire and Nero had to leave the two on their own to deal with the mess, as they were too busy to care about the spreading fire. Their argument seemed very heated (and could likely get violent, knowing Khrista), but he wasn't too worried about Marcus. Marcus can handle someone like her - at least, he hoped.
Khrista let out a bitter laugh. "Someone cares about me? Hah, you have no idea what you're talking about!"
