He'd cleaned the apartment when he first moved in, getting rid of all the dust and grime, restoring the paint and furniture to the clean, pure white it should have been. And, of course, every available surface (that wasn't reserved for important things like eating of course) was covered with houseplants of every shape and size. They dominated the room.
The wine was set out on the first available surface - two bottles, and he'd set out a couple of glasses as well. He generally wasn't much for large gatherings, but he needed something for entertainment.
