in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercurywaterfellApril 29 2008, 00:54:28 UTC
He wants something... He wants you.
"Me?" Mercury repeated. She stared at Sasuke for a second; he had quite snapped her out of their strange mood.
I'm glad it's you who's falling into my hands. From now on, you belong to me!
How familiar.
She had no time to think about it further before her counterpart was in the room. Then Orochimaru must be--
Orichimaru was of course right behind her. The fog had helped her outmaneuver him, it seemed (Mercury could see its traces in the hallway), but of course it had not hindered him much. He was quite skilled as a shinobi.
She also had no words for her double immediately, too surprised the girl hadn't just done the smart thing and turned around if Orochimaru was here.
Yes, if Orochimaru was here, why hadn't she run? Or perhaps more to the point, why had he not engaged Sailormercury in a proper fight? Of course. He wants something from you. He would be much less likely to get it if he harmed that girl; probably he knew this and was being cautious.
You amuse me. I seek amusement. You're fascinating!
Mercury knew very well what sort of man Orochimaru was. She was on her feet already, sword up in a guard position.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryembalmmentApril 29 2008, 01:17:01 UTC
"You," Sasuke responded calmly.
He had an idea or two of what it was. If it was in fact that, than there was really little to actually worry about. If anything he doubted Mercury would deny it. Orochimaru wasn't stupid. He didn't work so forcefully. He played on people's desires if they were desireable. (Usually.) Sasuke knew Orochimaru well.
He had nothing to say to the outbust of the woman either. He was not tense as Ami was. Either he'd gone numb (likely) or he'd stopped caring. There was nothing but serenety on his expression. Only those strong bloodbooled triple-tomoe hues that stared at the both of them wordlessly and almost impassively.
If anything happened he would be ready to attack or counter attack.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryacanthophisApril 29 2008, 01:23:58 UTC
Orochimaru watched as the senshi vanished into a sea of fog, a slight tilt of his head as he observed this interesting transformation. He had seen such techniques utilized in a different fashion by those ninja of the mist, but nothing to this degree. Curious, that...
He made no move to stop her. It wasn't in his interest to halt her, yet. She posed him no threat as she was now. If she wanted to reach her counterpart - that was completely up to her. As he'd said - the choice was hers. He'd warned her.
Warned her.
He stepped in after her calmly, arms folded over his chest, eyes sliding from the dark senshi to his future vessel, smile blooming again over his lips.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryreflectingwaterApril 29 2008, 04:14:48 UTC
The minute she saw her counterpart, she went to her side. As Orochimaru entered the room, Mercury lifted her sword in a similar manner as her almost-twin, still not afraid. She could feel Usagi's worry in her head, but she didn't let that affect her or let it show. One part of this outing was complete.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercurywaterfellApril 29 2008, 04:27:01 UTC
How like a sailor senshi. Sailormercury knew nothing about this situation but was rushing in on assumptions - just like the assumption, had Mercury known of it, that the dark senshi had been held here against her will by Sasuke. Just like the assumptions of those girls. Give back Ami-chan!
Hn.
If she admitted to herself that she needed to be sought that way, it was with a very quiet voice indeed. The darker of the pair of blue-haired girls took a step foward - conveniently, and she hoped not noticeably, putting herself in a position where Ami would behind her. She looked at Orochimaru.
An assessment of the situation. What did Orochimaru want? She didn't know; that was critical missing data. Sasuke was...well, dying to fight wasn't too great an exaggeration, in this instance. Sailormercury looked quite willing, too. On whose side? She thought the former might simply side with her; he just wanted to fight. The latter, would definitely do so. It was tempting to say 'then therefore Orochimaru was absolutely nothing', but that wasn't quite the case. She knew that much.
So, first priority, that missing data.
"What did you come here to do?" she asked Orochimaru, and there was a slight twist to the lips that might have been aloof amusement and a tone that proclaimed he'd be doing it only at her will.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryembalmmentApril 29 2008, 04:42:47 UTC
Mercury was correct in that assessment of Sasuke itching for a fight. Even if it had no external signs anymore. His anger had faded in to, predictably, numbness. He was now of a cool and calm demeaner save for those burning eyes which always spoke so clearly what lied deep within his heart.
He could see where the assumption that he had taken Mercury came from, but it was a wrong one. Not only a wrong assumption but an assumption based on one or two observations and it took little else in to consideration. He had no tolerance for this idiot woman whether or not she was of par on Mercury's level.
His eyes shifted to the other woman's veiw whem Mercury came stepped forward. He could have said a thing or two. Typical Sasuke salt in wound snipes but he'd be quiet for now. His eyes returned to Orochimaru much more passively that the two who were quick on defence.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryacanthophisApril 29 2008, 04:48:07 UTC
Strangely enough, Orochimaru bypassed both the girls without so much as a glance in their direction. His eyes settled directly on the Uchiha.
"You are quite the annoyance when you want to be," he said, a hint of irritation showing plain in his inflection; he made no efforts to hide it as he tilted his head slightly to the side. Sasuke's displeasure, his anger, festered beneath the mask of complacency as if it did not exist to Orochimaru's eyes. It seemed the snake knew his former pupil far too well to be deceived by such an act. "I know you didn't aim to deter me. Did you do it simply to frustrate me? How very childish. How very typical."
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercurywaterfellApril 29 2008, 21:51:18 UTC
It was not strange that Orochimaru would pay attention to Sasuke, or even that he'd taunt the boy, not when Mercury considered the history they shared, the history that made her and Sasuke so similar.
So what the snake wanted right this moment... was to provoke that temper into overflowing? Possibly. What would he gain? Sasuke humiliated and, if he could be provoked so much that the cuffs activated, out of the picture. However, the second could hardly be counted on since the boy was strong-willed.
That way of slipping by Mercury and Ami, that was just for show. Drama. Flourish. 'You are negligible,' it said. Well, if he underestimated them, he would find out that was a mistake if it came down to it. Also, it would normally have the effect of lowering their guard; after all, the danger had 'passed' them in a literal, physical sense. So Mercury was still considering the possibility of the man pursuing whatever goal he might have relevant to her. This was when her own words to Skuld were proven quite right: vigilance was always best.
There was an urge to tell him to stand down, stay away from Sasuke, but that would be the worst thing she could say for so many reasons. Sasuke's temper would boil over at the interference and implied lack of faith in his own capabilities; Orochimaru would only be amused and perhaps even focus on Sasuke all the more.
Still, 'just to frustrate Orochimaru'? "You're a little arrogant, aren't you, thinking you're worth that?" Mercury mentioned casually. "I'm just not seeing it."
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryembalmmentApril 29 2008, 22:05:51 UTC
He looked... shocked? A little, for a moment. His head tipped to the side as if trying to grasp this concept. No. The slight and mild suprise didn't last long at all. Fraction of a second. He knew what it was and as the man came to the younger's side it wasn't shocking the words that came from those lips; nor was it shocking the look in those serpent golds. The only thing left for him other than trying to help his children be somewhat more healthy and happy while they are in a dream. Oh, right. And save the asses of countless idiots he didn't give a shit about. Life was beautiful. He was bitter. He was partially over the childish bitterness. Maybe he was over it all. He couldn't tell anymore. That cement blockaid which always bound around him so quick and so well had devoured him again. Quick to buy in to it.
He didn't move when the elder came in. His features still looking rather impassive. Sasuke shifted the Sanin a mild glare from the corner of his eyes between black locks. He knew that he was there for Mercury. He was sure that Orochimaru knew that Sasuke knew he was there for Mercury.
and -- Hn. Mercury spoke. Sasuke did nothing but smirk a little; and lift a brow. What else was there to say to that?
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryacanthophisApril 29 2008, 22:12:16 UTC
Orochimaru perked a brow ever so slightly, but continued to ignore the blue-haired girl's outburst as just that - a meaningless outburst. The similarities between her and her dearest little pet in terms of their mouthes was just uncanny. The would've expected something the same to come from the Uchiha on a different occasion.
How amusing.
The snake leisurely sank down to sit indian style across from the boy, as if the two Senshi did not exist. "These games you play with yourself are getting out of hand. It's tiresome, watching you self-destruct in such a way. After a while, it becomes almost... boring." He breathed a sigh as if to demonstrate this point. "You should know better than to let the likes of the jinchuuriki to become the balancing point in your life. I thought you more intelligent than that, Sasuke-kun. Perhaps I was wrong."
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryembalmmentApril 29 2008, 22:40:00 UTC
Sasuke blinked those scarlets hues as Orochimaru took a seat. Getting comfortable, it seemed.
Right, so that was it. To delve out his little secrets before Mercury and the other girl as if they didn't understand the sentiments? Foolish. Here the Sanin was thinking that Mercury's outburst was meaningless. So was his. It bothered him, there was no doubt about that. That Naruto had actually become so important and he was so oblivious to it. Still to this very minute he wouldn't admit it. But Sasuke refused to show it; his termoil. Typical.
'If you, and your opponent are trained enough, you can only read into eachothers mind and heart when your fists meet.'
Wasn't everything that was happening right now in this room just that? Meaningless. Ami coming to 'rescue' Mercury was meaningless. Orochimaru coming to tell him that he was pathetic for having such a bond with Naruto was meaningless. Mercury sniping out Orochimaru's meaninglessness and meaningless. And Sasuke standing here doing nothing was also meaningless.
'There's no need for words.'
Was that it? No, saying that would be... a wrong desicion. He had no patience for this bullshit.
"When you have something useful to say," Sasuke began walking forward down the hall, "let me know."
'So can you.. can you read my mind; my heart?'
Orochimaru didn't need to. And he wondered breiftly why that was. Even if they were connected now. Sometimes it seemed like Orochimaru knew him... a little too well.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryacanthophisApril 29 2008, 22:46:46 UTC
This would not be a humbling experience, but Orochimaru didn't particularly care.
The snake chuckled quietly to himself, staring at the spot Sasuke had abandoned as the boy headed towards the door. So childish. Still stuck in the past even as he walked into the future. He would forever be this way, it seemed, no matter how much changed around him. Regardless what effected the rest of the world, the same few things would continue to decide the coarse of this Uchiha's life.
He was abandoning her. He was abandoning her to her fate.
A sweet, sweet pet he was. Orochimaru made a note to pay him back for this little favor at a later date. Some news of his children, perhaps. Something to dissuade a bit of that darkness that permeated his sensibility so deeply.
Orochimaru gestured to the abandoned seat before him. "Please sit, Mercury-san."
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryreflectingwaterApril 29 2008, 22:55:23 UTC
Oh, hell no.
Don't, Ami-chan, she thought, a small message to her counterpart. The water was how that was possible, a communicated, unhackable little link. They needed to get out of here. Both of them. And with Sasuke leaving, she felt more vulnerable than ever. However, she refused to let that fear show on her face. We need to get out of here! We can't trust him!
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercurywaterfellApril 29 2008, 23:10:20 UTC
Of course she didn't trust Orochimaru. She trusted Sasuke. He was not far -- if he was even gone. (Just like 'that' man, the one who would look for her, the one who would not leave her alone, the one who was always right there. She trusted this boy almost like that; how very strange.) What fools these two were, it seemed.
Also, she had already hypothesized that Orochimaru might want to separate them, drive Sasuke away. She did not believe he was foolish enough to fall for that. She did believe that making it seem as though he had might be a workable strategy. In which case, she should play along somewhat.
Then it struck her, as her counterpart tried to persuade her to simply walk away:
Why did only 'that' man and Sasuke have any faith in her competency?!
Mercury considered. I wanted power. Sasuke had said that; he had gone to Orochimaru for power. Orochimaru had already tried to hint at the things he could give Mercury. So she was probably about to find out exactly what he was able to offer, which was probably power -- so, what sort of power (and at what price)?
"So me, you have something worth hearing to say to? Maybe now I should be flattered." 'Me', as opposed to the clearly useless, she was implying, taunts at Sasuke. Her amused tone said she wasn't flattered, that she was bored if anything. But she did sit down
I don't want to leave. Her counterpart could hear that.
in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryembalmmentApril 29 2008, 23:20:54 UTC
Can you read in to my heart and my mind Orochimaru? Do you honestly know me?
Try harder.
Sasuke was not gone. Hiding. Waiting. He had a feeling of what was going to happen. The cursed seal. He could understand why Mercury would be such a desireably target. Too bad she would probably overcome it. Ah, but to have her on his side would be very beneficial to him. She was as he was: smart; quick; strong. She desired power as he did. They were similar. Very similar. So it wasn't strange that Orochimaru would want her.
However they were both lacking in one area that he was not. Speed; and quick observance. They did not have the ability to see what was coming before it came. The clarity and unique abilities of the Sharingan. This was why Orochimaru would want Sasuke out of the room.
So he would be waiting. Sasuke had faith in Mercury's abilities; but if she needed him, he was there. Ready to counter any attack that would come unexpectantly.
Besides, if Sasuke did interrupt this happy moment of the Sanin's it just might make for a very pissed off snake.
Re: in the room -- OU: Mercury -> Sasuke -> Orochimaru -> AU: MercuryacanthophisApril 29 2008, 23:43:05 UTC
He waved off her words with a had, glancing briefly at Mercury's counterpart with an unsettling smile before speaking himself.
"I hadn't expected to find you here," he said. "It seems that Sasuke's brooding attracts unusual sorts of company." He stretched the muscles of his shoulders as he spoke. "Ahh, this is the first time we've met face to face, hm?"
He had seen her, of course - but for her, it was another story entirely, hm? She seemed to have the misconception that he had come here with ill intentions; it was quite the contrary. He was here to pick his fallen little pet out of the dirt hole he was digging himself into deeper and deeper, to knock some sense into that pathetic head of his. She... she was simply an interesting complication.
His eyes briefly slid towards the hallway; Sasuke was still nearby. Was he worried? No. Of course not.
"Me?" Mercury repeated. She stared at Sasuke for a second; he had quite snapped her out of their strange mood.
I'm glad it's you who's falling into my hands. From now on, you belong to me!
