Her back ached.
While she had cut her hair shorter and wore loose button down shirts to help accommodate the tightly bandaged burns on her back and while she was accepting the medication she was being given, she just couldn't stay in the clinic any longer. She knew it was perhaps the best place for her so the doctors could catch if something was wrong, but a girl, even one who spent most of her time these days to herself, needed to get out and about. A walk couldn't hurt that much.
But she hadn't anticipated how much moving this much would make her back ache and she found herself needing to stop every few minutes until it subsided. It was awfully distracting and she wondered if this would subside or be something that would continue even when they finally healed? What of when they returned to their World and had to deal with the Court? An escape? Potentially a war? Would she be in the way if she found these pains didn't let up or, even worse, the burns hindered her movement altogether?
For a moment, she was jealous of her counterpart who had Sora. As dear as her brother was to her, she wished she had someone she could claim as her own. Not even in a romantic capacity, just the closeness of someone you could be completely at ease with as she herself tended to be around every version of him. But what use was she? What potential had she? She didn't have a Keyblade, she wasn't much of a fighter. Her first battle and she had effectively crippled herself. Potentially saved her counterpart's life, yes, but now she was useless as a warrior and she needed to be a warrior. That much was sure. Her counterpart and Sora coud go to the battlefield together, she could not.
And she didn't want to be protected.
So Kairi wandered, blue eyes alert as she glanced around the new Compound, trying to take in everything while not straying too far from the infirmary in case she decided to go back in or one of the doctors were looking for her.
