Kairi hummed happily to herself as she walked down the hallway of Ci, the vial (hopefully) containing the antidote in one hand and her notebook in the other. She'd been especially careful over the last few days while she made the antidote, taking precise notes so she would know what she'd done if something were to go wrong (again). With no real way to test it for ill effects, she'd been nervous. Why, oh why did all her potions have to have such ill effects? She'd never had this much trouble back home ( ... )

Aligoté got to his feet and opened the door for Kairi when he heard her knocking and speaking through the closed portal. He thought the way she addressed him was a little odd, but said nothing. After all, he'd heard her do the same to others, so it must just have been a habit of hers. Much in the same way many people added suffixes like -san and -chan to people's names here. He'd come across a lot of dialects in his life.

"Come in," he said, holding the door for her. "Don't know where any of my roommates are, so it's pretty quiet. Jing's sleepin' in the other room." He hadn't seen Aya in quite a while, and couldn't recall actually even MEETING Alex, and didn't really care to know the whereabouts of the crazy one whose name he forgot.

"Kinda glad you came up with an antidote," he admitted. "We were starting to worry since it didn't seem like it was wearin' off. Usually the crazy stuff around here goes away on its own."

"Thank you," she said as she entered and turned, holding up the vial of pearly liquid, "I can't guarantee you'll be able to get him to drink it, but it should be able to return him."

Her face reddened in embarrassment at him pointing out the potion not wearing off, looking at the ground and laughing a little nervously.

"I'm sorry about that. Everything I've been attempting has been going wrong somehow and . . . I should have double checked before I even offered it to him!"

Really now! Part of her was debating giving up potion-making altogether with her track record as of late.

Aligoté took the vial, handling it carefully, holding it up to peer at the strange liquid contained within. "I think he'll drink it if we ask him to. If needed, can we mix it in something? You could put anything in hot chocolate and he'd gulp it down." Although it would mean giving him more sugar, which was ultimately dangerous and headache inducing.

"Eh?" The winged boy looked at Kairi's blushing. "Hey, we already said it ain't your fault. 'Sides, you said you gave it to him to help heal him up, right? That an' Jing wouldn't have drank it unless he was okay with testing something you made for you."

He tilted his head curiously. "You make a lot of stuff like this? Uhh, not the turning-into-small-kids variety, but potions in general?"

"That could work, too," she answered with a small laugh at the suggestion, "I'm fairly certain, at least."

She smiled at his curiosity and explained.

"I'm just learning how to make these things. I figured if we're going to be at War, I should perhaps learn a useful skill or two. Besides, I was just beginning to study it when I was brought here and . . . "

She shook her head, realizing she was babbling in her embarrassment, and starting again.

"Yes, I do. Mostly healing potions - though I have distilled alcohol from time to time when people ask for it."

"Making potions that heal people seems to be a pretty relevant skill," he agreed. "But then, the Warden ain't really consistent on who he brings here. Where'd you learn how to study that kind of thing? It sounds like something a place like Caipirinha or Almeria. If you were from my world, that is."

"Alcohol?" he said, looking mildly interested. "What do you charge for that?"

"Oh, I was part of a research group back home. Our main focus was in Gummi Space and Transport, but we looked into other things as well. The elder researchers were also my instructors, so they taught me anything and everything they thought useful - protocol, biology, history, potions - whatever they deemed fit," she explained, a fond smile on her face as she thought back to home once again.

She laughed gently at his interest and waved her hand in front of her face in a dismissive manner.

"No charge. Someone just has to ask and I can mix up a bottle. Not a problem."

"Sounds like you were pretty valuable in your world..." Aligoté said. "I guess a lot of people must know that you're missing. I hope you can get back to them before they worry too much."

He considered. "Maybe I'll get one when you have some free time. No rush, just to have one on hand. Last time I ended up raiding the kitchen for the cooking wine and it was... not a good result."

"Maybe. I have my brother here, though. So it isn't so bad here." she answered. Valuable, right. She was second in line for the throne - and she wasn't about to advertise the fact she'd been on Trial again. Not with Sora here, at least.

She grinned at him then. "Well, I've become good at it. I'm told it tastes like strong vodka and it's no trouble to make if you're in that much need for a drink."

"Your brother? Is he from your world or a different one?" Aligoté inquired curiously.

He got a comical expression on his face. "O-Oi! It ain't that I need it like that! I just was havin' a really bad day that time!"
