Characters: AU! Duo Maxwell, OU! Melaka Fray
Where: Ast-Pente
When: Afternoon
Summary: Duo deals with his blindness and introduces Mel to music
Warning: Shirtless Duo! So...Hotness abounds.

Duo'd spent a good hour just feelin through the right wires, the right cords. But he found what he needed, and blindly jury rigged what he need, which wasn't that hard, considering. Point was, the onion, infused with the gaterade and electrolytes, was effectivly charging his media device. Which solved his problem for time killing as a blind man. He spent the time waiting, stretching, pushups, shirtless.

The door to his room opened softly, and in stepped the Bonnie to his Clyde, Melaka Fray, her booted feet making no noise on the carpet. Her eyebrows arched at his slender, muscular form and she shook her head, shaking the thoughts had had flitted through her mind. She saw the onions and arched an eyebrow. "The rutting hell is up with the onions, Dee?" Mel asked, smirking.

"Battery." Duo replied. "No electronic devices, no batteries, they never said anything about food. Seems Onions conduct electricity just fine." He pulled himself to his feet and turned to the door. "Course a speaker is gonna be a different matter entierly."

"Why are you using an onion for a battery in the first place?" Mel asked, walking over and sitting down on Duo's bed, untying her boot laces, slipping off her boots.

"Cause I can't read, I can't people watch. But I can listen.."

"Listen? To what?" Mel asked, head canting to the side, black and pink locks falling over one shoulder.

Duo removed the cords from the Device and collected all the nessicary things, pulling the headphones from the drawer. He moved to the couch and reached for her face.

Mel reached over, taking his wrist and guiding his fingertips to her cheek.

Duo put the ear phone to her ear, the latch onto the back of her ear. He pressed play. The middle of a power driven rock song began to play.

Mel gasped softly, her bright blue eyes widening as the music played. "What...what is that?" She asked softly, staring at Duo's blackened eyes.

"I think it's Masterplan."

A myriad of emotions rushed through Melaka and she stammered a little, unsure of what to say. "It's...it's...."

"Hmm?" Duo looked in her direction. "It's what?"

"It's amazing.... I've never heard anything like it," Mel replied softly.

"You've never heard music." Duo stated, almost skeptic.

"No.... There was a ban a good hundred years before I was born, that removed all music from Haddyn. I don't remember why. Something about the emotions that some of them may cause...."

Duo nodded a little, "If it makes a different, it took me goin to a pawn shop in a back water place in the middle east to find most of this stuff. Can't even find it on the net, Black market's the best thing you'll ever see. Most things you get commercial is classical and the tame stuff."

Mel lifted her hand the the headphone, arching an eyebrow. "How many different kinds are there?"

"Oh, Jeez.. hundreds, I think. At least a Hundred.. anyway."

"How many kinds do you have?" Mel asked touching his hand.

"I have rock, rock ballads, punk, mostly.. " Duo put his hand over hers and took his device, fingering for the next song. This time it was a slower medolic song. [Jumper by third eye blind]

Mel was quiet for a moment, listening to the song then gasped softly, her eyes wide. She felt the tingles behind her nose like when she's about to cry. Which she hadn't done in a very long time. "Jeus...."

Duo gave her hand a squeeze, really wasn't expecting such a reaction from her, he kinda assumed she knew all about this stuff. Heh.. funny..

Her bottom lip trembled and her hand tightened on his as the tingles intensified and her free hand shook a little. "Dee, this is.... I can't even describe. Thank you for sharing this with me...."

"Hey.." Duo said, pulling her close. "Like we said, Bonnie and Clyde, right? Besides, wouldn't have been fair to just hog it, course don't tell anybody or we'll be usin a lot more onions..."

"I won't tell anyone...." Mel replied, shaking her head.

Duo snerked alittle, the headphones played blips of music before Duo, who piped in with, "oh.." The rock show, bling 182.

Mel began nodding her head in time with the music. "Heh. This is amazing, Dee. I seriously hate Haddyn's laws."

"I don't like 'em either.. probably be Hell, huh? Stupid laws. Why do ya think I'm a revolutionist?"

"You're such a rebel," Mel giggled softly, reaching up and pinching his cheek softly.

"Eh.. cut that out." Duo reached to her. "I am, too..And baby, do I look good in leather."

Melaka chuckled, watching his hand, her brow furrowing as the "Hurt" cover by Johnny Cash began playing then she inhaled sharply.

Duo silenced himself, and breathed out.

Mel leaned in a little, so he could hear the song as well, staring down at the player, then looked up at Duo.

Duo didn't react really, more then just silenced to listen. He couldn't see her reaction, but he could hear her a little. "Mel?"

Mel sniffled softly, taking Duo's hand and brought his fingers to he cheek and he felt the few tears that had slipped down her cheeks.

Duo closed his eyes, more of a gesture then anything else. He moved his thumb accross her cheak under her eye, to whip away. Never thought music would have this effect on someone.

"Thank you, Dee...." Mel whispered softly, her voice wavering a little.

"Just wait till I can actually play that thing..." Duo replied, pointing to the corner where the guitar sat.

Mel slipped the headphone off her ear, walking over to the guitar, picking it up and walking back over to sit down next to Duo. "Do you already know how to play it? Or are you learning?"

"Still learning, course as far as you can tell, I know the basics.. played back when we still had a place to crash on Quatre's bill." Duo reached for it, taking the neck with his left hand. "Where's the pick?"

"Pick?" Mel pulled a little plastic triangle from beneath the strings at the very top of the neck "This?" Mel asked, putting the pick in his hand.

Duo took it and reached his left hand for the proper place, guitar was one thing he didn't need to see for, not really, i was all muscle memory, all ear. He played a few cords down the scale, smiling a little. "Guess I ain't that hopeless.."

"It's a good start," Mel smiled softly.

"Heeey, you weren't supposed to agree with me." Duo nudged her with his elbow before. He blushed a little, considering how accustic music was entierly empty with out a voice.

Mel chuckled softly, nudging him back. "For all I know, you're a god on that thing."

"Considering I might be the only guitarist in Econtra... might as well be.. You hungry?"

"A little, yeah," Mel replied, hand moving to her stomach lightly, brushing against the red fabric of her soft-knit sweater.

Duo stuck the pick back under the strings and set it behind him on the bed. He heard the knock a moment ago at the door and stood, gesturing for Mel to follow.

Mel stood, following closely after Duo, glancing back to look at the player still sitting on the bed.

Duo opened the front door and leaned down, picking up three containers of steaming food. and two smaller containers of orange and yellow sauce. "Awesome."

"Lemme get those," Mel said softly, taking the containers from him slowly, almost unable to stop herself from wanting to be his seeing-eye slayer.

"Okay..." Duo replied, handing them to her, before moving to the side to get some paper plates and forks. after about three minutes of rumaging, he found em! All this and he was still shirtless!

Mel walked over to a table, setting the food down carefully. "Aren't you cold?" Mel asked, glancing over at him.

"Little bit." Duo replied he sat at tha table, and handed a plate to Mel. "Which one's which?"
