Azula was glad about one thing: her powers of observation has definitely been her corer focus in Econtra. The Samurai's tactics weer hard, grueling, but most of all, very focused. Had Azula not been so determined to get it right, it would have defeated her. The first few hours had been rigorous but based. Azula started with a slow but steady speed, mimicking the Samurai's slow start that would suddenly gain momentum. Azula was lucky: her fighting style was applicable in this kind of battle, and it could certainly come in handy ( ... )

The senshi's eyes gleamed as her lips turned upward in a calculating smile. Azula had come.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Mercury remarked as her eyes landed on the emerald. Azula had been successful! Of course she had, the girl reflected, but seeing the evidence was pleasing.

As the taller woman handed Mercury the green gem, it winked and glittered. Mercury reached out to take it in her hands. Then she turned away slightly. There wasn't time to waste with many preparations, which would leave her a little less well-defended than she'd like - especially without her sword. She quickly scanned the area. No one yet.

"I need it for a few minutes," Mercury told the firebender. "Then if he comes, it should still be alright." Already, the girl could feel the emerald's energy as she started to focus on it. Yes, she was already more powerful...

Azula nodded. The speed she had used to get here had done been done lightly, but Azula was glad to see her training had paid off. Her speed was certainly nothing like the Samurai's, but it was enough to be quite faster than what she had been used to. She certainly did think there was power in this gem, and had she taken it for herself, would have liked to admire it longer. Sadly, this was not the case, and Azula knew she could not harness the power of the gem. So she would settle for aiding Mercury instead.

"That will be fine. Take your few minutes, I'll aid in a distraction if need be. I will not let it be a light one, don't worry."

Azula focused her eyes on area herself, making measurements on to how large of a distraction she wanted to create.

Mercury's expression was a thrilled smirk, face animated with the sheer pleasure of what she was about to do. She didn't even need to gesture; with a thought, the wall near her was coated with water and then ice, icicles clinging to an overhanging portion and the air filled with the almost musical sound of it cracking even as it formed. This was... so much easier than last time. So much easier, so much more...

Mercury broke one icicle off and took a test swing as though it were already a short sword.
