When Takion awoke, the pain in his head had receded. Whatever Alema had done to him had certainly helped. For the moment, he was content to lie still and listen, enjoying the sound of someone else in the room.
Eventually Takion cracked open his eyes and watched Saetan from the bed. It appeared that Dracula had already been unearthed. But more importantly...
Saetan glanced up from the book - it was stories like these that made people fear Guardians, he had decided, although in some cases those fears were well founded - and smiled fondly.
"Would you like some?" He asked calmly, calling in another cup and pouring some tea as he spoke.
Takion set up slowly, not wanting to do anything to make the pain in his head come back at full force. However, he found the floating tea set much more attention-holding than his own aches and pains. Seeing real magic at work fascinated him.
"Tea would be delightful, dear Saetan," Takion said. He leaned back to rest against the wall, considering picking up something to read himself. He always felt like something was missing when he didn't have a book. "Enjoying Dracula?"
A flick of his finger sent the second tea cup gliding through the air to Takion's hand. Saetan was relieved to see he seemed to be feeling better; no matter what Alema claimed to have done, he had still been worried about Takion. He would have done something to help himself, but he had almost no healing Craft at his disposal.
"Yes, it's very interesting," He replied. "Vampires in your world do seem very similar to Guardians, with the exception of the fear of religious symbols. And we generally don't drain all the blood from a victim. I've known demons who will, though.' He added, thinking of Hekatah.
Takion plucked the cup out of the air and took a grateful sip. That was just the thing he needed. Takion was firmly of the opinion that everything was better when a cup of tea was offered.
"Vampires in my world are creatures of myth and legend," Takion pointed out. "Though there is some kernel of truth generally to be found in legends. Perhaps a Guardian or two from your world somehow came to mine. And the rest of the myth was built up by people who simply didn't understand what they were seeing."
Saetan took a sip of his own tea, returning his gaze to the book for a thoughtful moment before marking his page and closing it.
"Interesting theory," He mused. "Although I don't know how that would work. Still, legends and myths are often more true than people realize. I suppose you could say I'm living proof of that." He added with dry amusement.
"Perhaps another writer managed to open a way betwen worlds," Takion mused. His expression soured slightly as he realized that to find that out, he would have to go to Andersen and the other writers. Takion had always preferred doing things on his own and not being bound by the rules the others had set up for themselves. And those dark cloaks they all wore - overly dramatic in Takion's mind. But they would probably have a record of another writer opening a way to a world with vampires or Guardians.
It was going to take Saetan some time to get used to Takion's power, but now that he thought about it he realized it made quite a great deal of sense.
"Well if you ever find him, tell him we do not sleep in coffins." He replied, his attempt at sounding offended by the idea spoiled slightly by the smile on his face.
"It may be something I look into when this is all over," Takion murmured. "But I'd have to go to Andersen to find anything." The very thought of asking Anderson for even the tiniest scrap of information set Takion to looking as though he'd swallowed a lemon.
Clearly, this Andersen person was a touchy subject, so Saetan decided to let it drop. Instead he finished his tea before vanishing the cup as well as the floating pot, and moved to take a seat on the bed.
"Are you feeling better?" He asked, on hand absently brushing a few loose strands of hair out of Takion's face.
"Somewhat, yes," Takion answered with a contented sigh. He was more than willing to dismiss Andersen from his thoughts when he had Saetan by his side. "And how are you, my dear one?"
Saetan smiled - something he seemed to be doing quite a lot of since this relationship had started - and allowed his hand to drift down and pull him closer. "Never better." He replied with a kiss.
Takion sighed contentedly, more than happy to lean into the circle of Saetan's arms. He hadn't felt this loved since he'd been with Liddell. But Liddell had been pretending. Takion would have worried that maybe Saetan too pretended, except that they knew too little of each other.
For both, all they'd each knownf or certain that the other had was the chance for much needed companionship. Takion, of course, couldn't speak for Saetanf or certain, but companionship was all the writer had wanted.
Returning the kiss, Takion murmured, "I'll be slightly put out with you if this turns out to be a dream and I wind up waking up by myself."
Saetan returned the kiss, allowing his fingers to play lightly through Takion's hair. "I was just going t tell you the same thing," He replied teasingly.
He still was not quite sure what this reltionship was, but he was willing to give it a try. Every love affair he had been involved in had been torn apart by something; Cassandra's fear, Hekatah's manipulative scheming, Tersa's madness, Luthvian's anger, Sylvia's sorrow; sometimes the list just seemed too long, and he did not want to have to add Takion's name to it.
"I shall try not to," Takion promised. He couldn't give Saetan a certainty on that, for he couldn't know what the future would hold for either of them. But he knew that he would try his best to avoid hurting Saetan.
"Good," Saetan replied, his voice slightly teasing, as though to dismiss the seriousness of the previous moment. He pressed another kiss against Takion's lips, allowing his hands to wander further down his body, making it quite clear he had other things besides talking on his mind at the moment.
Eventually Takion cracked open his eyes and watched Saetan from the bed. It appeared that Dracula had already been unearthed. But more importantly...
"You made tea?"
