When the time came, and the Entropi flooded the streets, Shadow was ready. He hadn't realized that at first, and it bothered him to discover such uncertainty in himself once again. Only Econtra could do this to him. The sooner this battle was over, the sooner he would no longer have to deal with that.
And so he watched for a while, keeping himself well out of the way of the roving alien creatures. The noise they emitted was terrible, painful even, but he was always quick to remove himself from an Entropi's range. Eventually he learned that for reasons he wasn't entirely sure he understood, random modulations in his internal levels of Chaos Energy could cause the sound to subside for a time, allowing him to make a better study of what was going on around him. If Tails were here, the fox would have an answer, but all that Shadow cared about was that it worked.
He saw, too, that toward the end of the day, a few of his fellow inmates-come-soldiers had begun to successfully fight back. They had stumbled across some kind of tactic that seemingly worked, although it was hard to make out what exactly was going on. Their movements seemed so spontaneous, more like dodges and feints than direct attacks, and yet the small cluster of Entropi trying to fight them were being snuffed out one by one. The moment of epiphany came not long after that - but of course, it made sense! Never before had they faced multiple Entropi at once. They were using them against each other. And once he'd realized it, Shadow was able to not only replicate their efforts, but improve upon them, using his own innate ability to manipulate space-time. With the rings that bound his power removed, he drew and then channeled his opponents' attacks to their own unique temporal locations. It was exhausting work, and he was glad to have the Chaos Emeralds to continually sap power from, for had he been using only his own resources, he wouldn't have been able to keep up both offense and defense at once.
When finally the last Entropi fell victim to the efforts of the compound, Shadow collapsed on the dusty cobblestones, breathing raggedly. It had been a long time since he'd burned so much Chaos Energy, and it would take a while to restore. But he felt truly content for the first time in a long time, as well. His talents had been useful, after all. He and the others had triumphed. Finally, he was free to go home.

((Mandy, Pedro, if you guys want Shadow to have taken Rouge and Tohru somewhere safe-ish outside the compound first, you can just assume that happened, or not, that is up to you. He will have asked if they wanted him to, but of course, they can have said no.))
