Summary: Two femme fatales, looking for a way to alleviate Inexorable-Doom-Approacheth jtters, challenge each other to a game of poker. The stakes are Faye's bottles of freaking expensive alcohol against Rouge's heap of jewels.
Warnings: Cheating at cards, bitching, whining, and other sorts of juvenile behavior are expected from both parties. Other than that, probably nothing.
Faye had been glad when Pharaun had said he'd come over in the evening and a have a few drinks with her. She couldn't stand all this waiting, and she desperately needed some distraction.
When Rouge had agreed to play a high-stakes poker game with Faye, however, Faye was positively filled with glee, and the cloud of gloom that had been hovering over her lifted clear away. The reasons were manifold. For starters, Faye liked to play games (literally as well as figuratively), and poker was one of her favorites. She hadn't played poker in months; in fact, the only game she'd played since she got to Neocontra was that one round of shogi with Mai. Furthermore, Faye loved to gamble, and she hadn't been able to do that since her abduction either; with the Indigeo handing out anything anyone desired for free, there had been no point. This problem had fixed itself; in the Indigeo's absence, Faye's fancy booze collection had become a hot commodity.
But mostly Faye was gleeful because she was looking forward to blowing Rouge out of the water. Faye had suggested the bet knowing that she would win; she hadn't really cared what Rouge could offer as stakes, although this talk of gems was icing on the cake. Faye's fight with Shadow had been a humiliation for her, and while Rouge was hardly responsible for that, she had stood and watched and laughed at her. This would be Faye's revenge; the ball was in her court now.
The table was set up- booze and chips and cards on display- and Faye sat waiting with excited anticipation, one ankle crossed over her other leg's knee, her foot tapping an impatient beat against the air, her hands absently busy shuffling a deck of cards. Her eyes were on the door.
This is going to be fun~! she crowed to herself over and over again. This is going to be so much fun~!
