It's the Calm Before the Storm

So this was it. Seventy-two hours. The beginning of the end.
Ed found himself caught in a flurry of emotions. Part of him was relieved that something was finally happening after roughly six long weeks of waiting. He couldn't imagine what it was like for those who were held captive for years and having to more or less twiddle their thumbs until this particular something came about. Paradoxically Ed could feel the anxious anticipation of the unknown growing. And to top it off, he was still pissed off he was in Neocontra in the first place. The only silver lining was that they would get to go back to their worlds once everything was said and done. If they won. Which they would.
Not able to sit still, Ed sorted through the miscellaneous books he'd accumulated from the library, flipped through his loose pages of notes, and made minute changes to the experimental arrays he had chalked onto the walls, as he waited for Alice's arrival.
