Summary: Albel has decided that Sheifa needs a special surprise; one, because it's Valentine's Day, and two, because she's back.
Warnings: Absurd amounts of fluff. May lead up to an FTB depending on how, ah, affectionate they decide to get.

Sheifa was brooding. Everything that had happened in the past month had worn her out, from finding out that Selphie was gone to discovering that she had some sort of evil personality lurking somewhere inside her head. She didn't throw a fit like all the others at losing someone she held dear, however; she'd learned from what she'd seen previously that it wasn't a good idea to do so, no matter how upset she was. So instead of lashing out, she took it all in, becoming really quiet and spending almost her entire day in her room. She hadn't even moved back to Albel's room, not ready to deal with that just yet, although there were nights when she'd wake up crying and he'd move over to hold her just so she could actually get some sleep. It was a terrible ordeal, but they were getting through it.

She watched him come inside her room, suddenly curious. "You seem happy," she observed, turning away from the window to face him.

He walked over to touch her arm. "Come on, I've got a surprise for you."

[sheifa]

"Really?" She had to smile. "I like surprises."

[shining_nox]

Albel grinned back at her. "Well, then, you'll love this."

[sheifa]

She latched onto his arm. "Lead the way, then." She had to suppress a giggle. Albel always made her feel nice. Guess it comes with being married or something, she mused.

Albel paused just outside the door to the kitchen. "All right, Morning Star, I know on Valentine's Day in your world the girls are supposed to give presents to the guys, but..." He pulled open the door, revealing the romantic dinner he'd set up. "I thought you needed this more than I needed something. Happy Valentine's Day."

[sheifa]

"Actually, that's how they do it in Japan, but in Hong Kong we're pretty westernized and it's still the men..." Sheifa trailed off in midsentence as soon as she saw what Albel had gotten ready for her, eyes widening. She was quiet for a while, torn between crying and squealing for joy, then settled to hugging him.

"This is wonderful. Thank you."

Albel laughed, hugging back. "Don't mention it. Like I said, I think you needed this."

[sheifa]

"Sure none of that's poisoned? Haha, just kidding!" Sheifa teased, grinning.

Albel smiled and tapped her nose. "I hope not. I'm not the best cook in the world, but it should be edible, at least."

[sheifa]

"Better than me, I'm sure! I burned soup. Who in the world burns soup anyway?" Sheifa was laughing now; he really knew how to cheer her up, and she was silently thankful for that.

Dinner went by quickly. She didn't realize how hungry she was, being cooped up in her room all day. "Am I dead yet?" the redhead asked as she took one last bite. "Nope, still breathing. Guess you can cook after all," she teased.

Albel shrugged. "Well, someone has to. We can't get someone to cook for us until we're home."

[sheifa]

"Home..." Sheifa fell silent, turning gray eyes towards her husband. "Do you think... what Maria said..." She looked down at her food, or what little was left of it anyway. "... it would be nice, if it were true."

[shining_nox]

"Sheifa..." Albel sighed. "Even if we don't, I'll find a way. I promise."

[sheifa]

Sheifa managed a smile. "I know. I believe you."

She didn't like where their conversation was leading, and she was tired of moping, so she attempted to change their course. "Is this all I get for Valentine's Day?" she asked with a mock pout.

"Depends. With the Indigeo down I can't exactly get you even more jewelery, but I'm sure we could arrange something~" Albel grinned. He didn't think he really needed to explain what "something" was.
