"Quatre?" The other blond wasn't far behind. He stood watching his double for a moment before walking over. "Is everything okay?" he asked, pausing next to him at the door.

"I don't know..." he said, "but I feel we should know. I feel like Heero doesn't trust us. Maybe he's just trying to protect everyone... give us plausible deniability or something... but it still hurts. And, how can we form a proper opinion of what happened if we don't know?"

Vri Pente had been a rather somber location for a number of days now. Though Wufei had been trying to keep from causing any troubles for his roommates, to save Relena from needing to continuously apologize for his behavior, there was a distinct chilliness between all of them.

They were all avoiding each other; Wufei because he did not want to offend them. It was frustrating to lose the easy, polite companionship of the two people who had accepted him into their shared home, and also disheartening that Relena was avoiding speaking of the matter at all. He understood her reasons, but even so, he had become used to being able to speak openly with her, even after the recent strain upon their contract.

When the knocking continued, and no one answered, he finally went to the door to see who was calling, and was faced with the expected and the unexpected in the faces of both Quatres.

"You are remarkably good at not taking hints," he said, his tone cool and polite.

"Of course we can't!" Quatre agreed with his double. He sighed, having some similar suspicions, but keeping them silenced for now. He looked up at Wufei as the door opened.

"And you should realize there's a reason for that," he said. "How are we supposed to handle a situation we know nothing about? Or rather, know only half of the story? You know we can tell when things aren't being said. In a place like this, keeping secrets from people on our side is the last thing we should be doing." Well, maybe not everyone on their side, but at least the people from their own world.

"I agree," Wufei replied. "You should know."

He swung the door open, moving aside so that the two Quatres could enter. He did not sit or offer them a place to sit; this was not intended to be a particularly civil conversation, but it should take place in the privacy of the apartment at the very least.

Perhaps some secrets had been kept from Wufei when he had first arrived, but that had been something he had disagreed with his double on. He inward sighed and stepped in through the door. Ever polite, he wasn't going to sit unless invited, so he remained standing, his hands clasped behind his back.

"Heero is being foolish," Wufei said, irritation coloring his words.

"I have honored his desire to play the public scapegoat only because he is correct in that my involvement with Miss Darlian may cause danger to her if my involvement in the situation is made known."

Quatre nodded solemnly. "We do need to make sure she's safe, but... that doesn't mean he has to put himself in any unecessary danger..."

A breath hissed out through Wufei's lips, a soundless sigh of exasperation. "I said that you should know. Not that I was going to tell you. He asked me to stay out it. I may not agree with how he is choosing to proceed, but it is still his choice."
