Summary: Siegfried gets the cliched "amnesiac after a mighty bump to the head" treatment.

Siegfried had never quite given up on the notion of there being a secret way out of Econtra. His mind simply didn't want to accept the notion of being surrounded by walls with no doors. If the Entropi had drafted the residents of Econtra, then they likely had other camps somewhere. If the Entropi ever wanted to bring other groups into contact, the other groups had to get into the compound, or the native Econtrans had to get out somehow. Siegfried supposed that with the Entropi's technology, that teleporation was a possibility, and yet it seemed a grand waste of energy compared with what it would take to open a door instead.
In his efforts to find a hidden exit, Siegfried had measured just about everything he possibly could, and noted those measurements in his files. He had a folder dedicated to nothing more than location names and measurements of length, width, height, area, and volume. It was Siegfried's hope to find some sort of discrepancy in the numbers that would hint at a hidden door or passageway.
Thus far, those efforts had yielded nothing more than the stack of papers which Siegfried now flipped through while he paced the living room of the apartment. He paid little attention to his surroundings, knowing the lay of the room well enough to not stub his toes on the furniture. He forgot to take into account the more animated things in the room, and so never noticed the teapot dart in his path. Siegfried stumbled over the unexpected obstacle. Unable to catch himself, his head hit against the edge of the coffee table and everything went black.
