Her smile widened when the cat moved close and rubbed against her palm. She let her hand glide gently along its fur, still in complete amazement at having seen it change colors. She wondered if it would change colors while she was petting it.

Her brown hues turned up to cast her smile to the man who had spoken. "Good afternoon, Marufuji-san." She nodded, recognizing the name as Japanese and addressing him in polite form since she didn't know him. "Are you enjoying the day?" Polite conversation always helped her feel a little more comfortable. It was nice to finally see some people - or animals - in person, rather than maintaining contact over the little journal system. And other than her roommate Kaylee, of course.

She licked her dry lips and looked back to the cat she was still petting as it spoke again. Strangely enough, it seemed the more she listened to him, the more his riddles seemed to make sense. For now, at least. But his words this time did confuse her a little, only the last bit. Blood staining the walls and soil? Had this poor animal been through something terrible? Or his owner?

"You belong to someone named Alice?" She asked, paying a little more attention to the animal's body as her hand sifted along its fur. Concerned by those words, she was looking for signs that it had been injured.

Ryou nodded slightly at Inara's question. Small talk had never been his forte, but it was a general enough question that he could answer it. "And you?"

He glanced then at the Cat. "I seem to generally get the luck that I need...which is not always what I want." Which was so very true. He would never have imagined the turns his life had taken from some of the duels that he'd lost, or won.
