Christmas was pretty much the furthest thing from Xiao Lang's mind as well. So much had been happening this month and he was still trying to figure out what point there was to barring people alive like that... But then he heard her in the other room. Something was wrong. That was enough to make him drop all those thoughts and go see if she was alright.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

Ying Fa looked flustered at her outburst. "Anou..." She stopped flailing, but she was now fiddling with her fingers instead. "I just realized that I'm not ready for Christmas." She swallowed. "I don't know what to do! It's already Christmas Eve, and... and..."

"Christmas...!" Panic started to set in. Oh, great it was the 24th already. He didn't have very many people to get a gift for or even felt comfortable giving to at Christmas. And he never liked the idea of just requisitioning gifts, that way anyone could get anything and nothing would hold the same meaning as if it actually had to be worked for. But he got an idea soon enough, though. Xiao Lang hurried into the kitchen and began pulling things out of the cupboards.

"... and it's Christmas tomorrow! Hoeeeeeeeee. There are people I have to give presents, and I still don't know what, and... and..." Ying Fa rambled on, just as panicked as her husband was. She followed him into the kitchen, and while she didn't really understand what he was up to, she tried to help him anyway.

Xiao Lang was listening although he didn't really look like it, being so busy looking for things and setting stuff out and all. "Here." He said tossing her an apron as he tied one around his own waist.

Ying Fa caught the apron and looked at it quizzically for a few seconds before finally turning to look at Xiao Lang. "What are we doing?" she asked, just in time to see him tie one around his waist. Her expression brightened in an instant. "Oh! I'll help!" she volunteered enthusiastically. It had been a while since they did something like that, after all... although she really wasn't sure why he suddenly felt like cooking.

"We'll bake a lot of holiday sweets." He explained "And, if they're any good, we can give them away." At one time he had been pretty at cooking but it had been a long time since he'd tried anything like this, after all.

Her face brightened all the more. "That's a great idea! I'll help!" And it did solve all their problems. Hopefully they could finish them on time. "What do you think we should make? Chocolate chip cookies? Maybe some cupcakes, too? And lots of frosting!"

Xiao Lang nodded glad to see her brighten. "Alright." He agreed, smiling just slightly. "Whatever you want." Crises averted, it seemed for the moment. He then set to work trying to find the ingredients they'd need for the cookies.

Ying Fa just kinda watched him for a while, smiling herself. He'd smiled! It was really nice to see him smile, mostly because he didn't do it often, more so after what happened to him in Fei Wong Reed's hands. But that seemed to be the past now. Humming cheerfully, she went to help him find the ingredients. Hmmm maybe they could bake a cake, too?

His smile was really rare, one could probably count on one hand how many times he had in the past year. Well if it seemed like it was all behind him that was mostly because he didn't have to deal with that here, there was more important things to worry about.

"Flour, sugar, margarine, eggs..." He thought aloud to make sure they got everything right. That was the basics, right? "And the chocolate-chips."
