Fontaine's first reaction was naturally enough to dodge whatever it was coming at him. He pushed off the wall with a strong, swift movement and began to weave and twirl with a flexibility and grace that belied his large stature. He was quite adequate in dodging the vine-like objects trying to wrap themselves around him, but the effort could last only so long before their relentless grasps twined around one of his limbs and halted his movement. Without full range of his motions the rest was inevitable: with a quickness that startled the Rapturite into silence only punctuated by one hard grunt, he was caught and held firmly in their tight grip.

He continued to struggle even as they lifted him high off the ground. His eyes immediately shifted to the two girls since he knew the tentacles had a master in them. He had, of course, heard the word directed at him. He glared daggers at the purple haired one, something within him telling him it was that one he should loathe the most at the moment.

A flame leapt up around his body immediately after that. Whether it harmed the tentacles or not didn't keep Fontaine from spreading them as far and wide as he could manage, and forcing them so hot as to line them with a blue ring. His skin cracked and burnt, melted away in a few places, but he paid it no mind. The dead grass began to burn in the area around him, whatever snow that remained easily melted from his efforts. The two girls would be hard pressed to come anywhere near him.

Gaz waited. The fire, of course, did NOT harm her: while they were extension of herself, they were also a mind projection, and it would have taken a different sort of way to break those. In any case, what the person Gaz knew as Atlas was doing both intrigued and startled her: was he burning himself only to make sure they didn't get near him? That seemed pretty stupid. Of course, he probably had an idea of how angry Gaz was that he didn't want a beating at the girls' hands.

Of course, Gaz could prevent the flames from harming her and Selphie anyway. She could erect a barrier (it was her specialty) and then it would only be a matter of waiting. Gaz was, despite how angry she was, a very patient girl. If he wanted to continue barbecuing himself, well, she'd wait until he was exhausted. Hell, he'd buried her alive, hadn't he? She had plenty of time to think then, she was simply granting him the same favor.

"Be careful," She advised Selphie. "He's pretty hot."

Fontaine had no intention of immolating himself with his own flames. Indeed, though it looked quite painful the man truly felt nothing--or maybe that was an illusion, his own pride going before the fall. Either way, he showed nothing on the outside but bitter disgust for the girls in front of him.

Selphie's impulsive nature would be her bane one day. Today, it was going to be damn close. Though mostly bound, Frank managed enough movement with a hand and concentrated enough mentally to send a burst of flame reaching out towards the girl. This lessened the firestorm surrounding him as the flames leapt out in a relatively straight line towards Selphie, like a scorching tongue searching for prey, but that didn't really matter much. He wanted to strike out, and he did.

As for the nunchaku strike--there was no way for Fontaine to dodge. So long as Selphie's aim was true it hit squarely. But it seemingly had no effect. Fontaine had a thick hide thanks to his Tonics. It would take more than one physical attack to harm him visibly.

Gaz was ready fora counterstrike. Nobody had an ego like this guy without packing some big firepower, and he had demonstrated it to her before burying her. Gaz would not have attacked with a blunt weapon: she knew enough that he would concentrate his attack on her then. But that was his own fault. Selphie, after all, couldn't attack a man with fire he could control. Gaz, on the other hand, had a sharp memory. Besides Fontaine, she'd seen that Azula's chick's fire attack during the day of the Entropi's attack and had wondered how she'd deflect something like that. So she'd made sure her barrier could withstand flame.

Which was a good thing, because it stopped the line of flame from directly injuring Selphie save for the very top of her hairs. Still, Gaz did not like a man who had buried her not only showing little remorse for it, but having the audacity to act as if he were better than they. Wordlessly Gaz clenched her fist and something like an invisible weight dropped on her captor: a more severe version of what she'd hit one of those Mello's with several months ago.

"You'll stop doing that," Gaz said, her eyes purple and voice booming. "I don't want to actually start getting rough with you."

((Should we bother to continue or not? :3))

"It's not rough," Fontaine squeezed out past clenched teeth and a grunt as Selphie's nunchaku hit for another solid strike. It was the first sign of weakness that he showed; the fact that it was an effort to speak without letting out a moan due to pain. On the other hand, his stoic expression did not change and any other hint was not forthcoming. What he felt clearly wasn't going to phase him.

Truth be told Selphie's attacks, while painful at the immediate time of the strike itself, weren't doing much more than making Fontaine despise the little girl more than he already did. It was Gaz and her mind-magic that was truly doing the damage. He was strong, and his Tonics made him stronger, but he couldn't ignore the near strangulation that was being afforded to him by the psychic attack.

In which case, he decided to strike back with his own psychic powers.

The Plasmid he equipped next wasn't entirely kin to having true psychic powers the way Gaz or another here had them naturally. All Plasmids were made by science and their effects on their users were... different. But the strength was still the same, and it was a psychic attack. The major thing about it was he could only use it in one manner as opposed to several. The Plasmid granted him telekinesis.

Fontaine reached out with that invisible hand of psychic power and pushed. More like a shove from a giant, the telekinetic power wasn't something that could be easily blocked with another power. It was as ephemeral as the phantasmal vines that gripped him. The attack was centered on both the girls this time, flinging them backward, away from Fontaine himself.

In truth, Gaz had been expecting something like that. Fontaine had been concentrating on Selphie, mostly because she was coming at him with the physical attacks, but it was only a matter of tome before he started to realize that Gaz's attacks would be far more devastating. This was, in truth, what Gaz wanted: she was trying to see exactly how powerful attacks against her would be. If they were weak enough, she would overtake him with her own Dark power: sure, it would leave her powerless for the next few days, but better that than one more maniac burying people around Econtra, right?

Unfortunately for Gaz, she was starting to get the feeling that something was amiss. There seemed to be something almost sluggish around Atlas's aura, as if he were harboring some sort of extra appendage about him. It was hard to describe: it was as if something was clouding his aura, and making it seem as if he had two of them. But something like that seemed impossible. The only other time she'd seen something like that was when she was possessed by Dark and...

WHAM.

That woke Gaz up, literally. He was strong, no way she could overtake him that simply. There was an even bigger problem too: Gaz realized why he had two auras. It should have been simple to her of all people: there was another in Atlas, most likely the person that buried her and those others alive. She had already erected a barrier, and while she was sure she could continue fighting, injuring someone that was not necessarily the same person wasn't something Gaz aimed for. She'd have to take down Fontaine from his source in Atlas's body, and that was going to happen one on one. Selphie couldn't go where Gaz would have to.

She turned to Atlas. "We're not done," she said, "So enjoy escaping for now. Next time, I'm making sure you're not going to pop up and bother anyone else again." She released the vines, Atlas falling to the floor. God, that smack had hurt. She'd get even with him for that.

Seeing Selphie open her mouth to protest, Gaz held her hand up. "It's a long story. I'll explain it to you in a few minutes. Let's just get out of here. He can't break through my barrier right now. He can try, and it'll definitely hurt me, but I think he wants to be left alone. It looks like I have a bigger fish to fry now."

She watched Atlas leave, her hand clenching to a fist. Man, it SUCKED when she couldn't get all of her frustration out, but she wasn't unhinged enough to do that anymore. Yuuko had saw to that.
