All he wanted was a walk. Why couldn't it be simple? Why did the weird stuff always have to happen to him. Ned might have been expecting it if he had been speaking to people around him recently, or if he paid more attention to where he was going. Unfortunately, the Piemaker had been holed up in the apartment, alternating between frantic periods of baking and long listless afternoons of lying around and feeling sorry for himself. He hadn't checked the communicators in days, and didn't know to expect evil mistletoe.
So, as he passed under a bunch and found himself suspended in place, he didn't quite know what to think. He struggled against it with increasing desperation, his hair getting tussled and his scarf uneven, dangling a few inches above the ground on one side. He watched his breath billowing in the air and looked around him, not sure what he would even say if someone DID come by. Help me, I'm trapped in midair? They'd think he was insane.
